Zapiro: Satire will survive in Zuma era

“There’s always been a good hurly-burly in South African politics, but it’s changing now… Only in the past seven or eight months have I been called a racist. Suddenly there’s a concerted campaign to smear me and others who question things. Some warning lights are flashing for freedom of expression.”
The focus of this article is on the practice of satire in general in South Africa, with an emphasis on newly-elected president Jacob Zuma, and cartoonist Zapiro is prominently interviewed.
