sweet jesus…that’s the worst cover I’ve ever seen.
man, what a downer.

Excuse me for saying so…but this series is pretty bad.

if you don’t look at it with the knowledge that its a x men comic the cover makes me think of Maria and Jesus

How could this writer of the beautiful Endsong series have strayed so far off course? Jean Grey is the one and only Phoenix. Emma and her spawn shouldn’t even be background characters, let alone taking center stage in anything with the moniker of Phoenix. This series is as forgettable as it is a waste of fan $. Shame on Marvel for allowing it.

It makes me think of two slimey sardines ….they just look ooey gooey, and slick…..like as in oil slick….I don’t know, maybe Silvestri was trying to go subliminal and try the baby oil look….
but its pretty nasty.
and frankly anyone remotely trying to insinuate Emma Frost and clone as Mary with Child ….
…well, my friends its time to get out the boots because this shit is getting deep.

Pak wrote a wonderfull “Phoenix Endsong”.
How can this brillant guy can deliver such pathetic “clone” story ? The cuckoos were great character. Now they’re convulted and wasted.
And by the way, I think Jean should be the only and true Phoenix.
Warsong is a very bad mini.

I’ve seen the advanced copy. This book is a farce. I was one of the fans that thought Pak could be the next Morrison or Whedon. But his work here is above and beyond poor.
Pak, has further convoluted the Phoenix. Morrison had brought the Phoenix back to Jean Grey and streamlined the concept but now its back to being a big mess (thanks to Pak here and Brubaker in Uncanny). Pak has also taken a great concept, the cuckoos, and muddied them as well.
I’ve been a fan of the phoenix for longer than i care to admit, and yet I find myself hating the phoenix. Pak has turned it back into a confusing covoluted nightmare of a mess (like it was during Alan Davis’ excalibur stories).
I wish the editors at marvel and the talented writers could tell good quality stories about Jean Grey.. who is the phoenix and not keep using the phoenix as a plot device and as a body hopping monster.
Will they ever learn?? Probably not. I wasted my money on the first issue of this Mini but wised up fast. I have read it at the comic store and will read the last issue, but I will not suport this book buy buying it.

yeap, I can’t agree more.
Endsong was about human relation, emotion, lots of emotion, love and death…
During the comic con, JQ presented, like he was ashamed of it, Phoenix Endsong. He promised this was the last time she was coming back ( sigh… WE WANT HER BACK ! )
Endsong was a great success. Each issue was selling out, going to reprinting, with alternate cover. It was praised by Jean fans, but also by X-men fans and critics.
A huge success.
At Marvel, they said it was because of the art.
Well… Land is the artist for Fantastic Four, but the book is not selling out…
Then, they said it was because of the brillant writing ( I agree, Endsong’s was brillant )
Pak is writing WARsong. But the book is not selling out either.
At Marvel, they NEVER said that the book was a succes also because of Jean… Never.
Hey Marvel, get a clue :
There were 2 Phoenix mini before Endsong :
- A pathetic manga that wasn’t a artistic or commercial success.
- A phoenix Mini about Rachel, that wasn’t good in any way either.
Get the clue ???
WE CARE and want Phoenix as JEAN GREY.
The Phoenix is an interesting concept only when its linked to Jean. She’s the Phoenix like KENT is Superman. DC can give Superman powers to a teenager or to a Black guy, but the ONLY and true Superman will be Kent forever.
Same for Phoenix. Whatever you do, the fans, the writers ( Claremont, Morrison, Seagle, Kelly,…) love JEAN GREY. She’s the true and only iconic one.
Even Brubaker said he wanted her back :
- What is one X-Men character you’d love to resurrect and why?
EB — Jean Grey, because they won’t let me.
See Marvel, a lot of people get what don’t seem to even understand.

Warsong does not at all contradict Endsong. Endsong said that Jean and the Phoenix were one, yes. It also said not all of her fragments returned home. The Phoenix Celeste has says she is a FRAGMENT of the whole. So this doesn’t harm Jean or Phoenix. So calm down people.
With that said, I didn’t buy Warsong, and even if Jean appears in the last issue, I still won’t buy it.
Pak said as of Warsong, it was too early to resurrect Jean. However, in Warsong 1, we were shown the graves of 3 characters, Esme, Sophie, and Jean. Esme and Sophie made their appearances, so I think Jean will appear in part 5 to reclaim this piece. I think all the cuckoos will be destroyed, except for the three, and I think the three may be destroyed as well.
In all honesty, given fan reaction to this series, Pak may have destroyed the 3-In-One as viable characters. Fans like them when they were the mysterious 3 in One that was probably planted by weapon X. True, they were effectively Emma clones, but now that they have been literally turned into Emma clones, I think the 3 will be killed off as well to give Emma another sob story.
Sacrificing the cuckoos to boost Emma.

emma and a baby? I DONT THINK SO….

Well, Greg Pak did say that this is a trilogy and I’m betting the last series will be released in 2008, marking finally the return of Jean Grey. I’ve also seen a pic of Jean Grey together with Professor X (with his telepathic powers restored), along with superheroes. It was said to be a marvel event that would be published in 2008. I’m hoping that I am right about this. To Mr. Joe Q, please resurrect Jean Grey and make her as the one and only rightful avatar or host of the Phoenix Force!!!

hey jeangreyfan, where did you see that at? Who said that it would be an event in 2008?
