I saw the advanced copy of this issue. In my opinion it sucked really bad.

I’m not going to buy this one but wait and buy the ones that have something to do with Jean Grey/Phoenix. Her “Voice” doesn’t even show up in this issue.

This is a Cuckoo story and they are only using the Phoenix name and concept to sell it. :(

At first I really wanted to get into this book and keep an open mind. I know how Pak likes to throw us for a loop and then tie it all together in the final issue.

But this wreaks of gimmick. This story is about the cuckoos and who and what they are. So far we get no explanation of why the phoenix is there or what is its purpose.

Oh I’m sure there is one, but again like others have mentioned, the phoenix is here to sell this wild story.

Why we can’t get a genuine honest to goodness Jean Grey story is beyond me. It would be nice to finally have one of those lol

I loved the first issue and is sounds like it’s gonna be a hell of a ride this ltd. series.

I really must laugh about the people who think Jean is Phoenix or is the only one who SHOULD be Phoenix avatar.

The Phoenix Force is an entity. Once upon a tome the Force sought an avatar through which it could act on Earth. The Force encountered Jean Grey and we all know what happened.

Later reflecting on its folly, the Force sought to undo the damage it had done by returning the life-force it had taken from Grey. On its return to Earth, it sensed the astral form of the time-traveling Rachel Summers and used her as avatar.

Now it’s back once agian and seems to use the Cuckoos as avatar. Why not? If the Phoenix Force thinks it’s good to use the Cuckoos as hosts, let it. This way we will probably learn even more about the force and more about the Cuckoos past.

So this story is all about the Phoenix Force! Only some fans do not like the Force to use anyone outside the Grey family.

This is not Marvel using the good name of Phoenix, this is about the Phoenix, not about Jean Grey, but about the Phoenix force.

I’m not that strong in believing Jean should be the only one the Phoenix force should use as host/avatar and this ids a cool development for both the Phoenix force as for the Cuckoos.

Jean Grey is dead, the Phoenix force isn’t. personally i’ve always wondered about the Cuckoos and am glad they are getting some spotlight. besides, didn’t they tie into Endsong too?

Okay well the issue people have with this is that Pak got through telling us in the last Mini that Jean Grey WAS the Phoenix and that the Phoenix was Jean Grey. That she is the closest thing that the phoenix has to a true Avatar. I mean that is what the whole Endsong was about.

I mean it has been stated over and over in one way or another that The Phoenix and Jean are one. In the New X-men one she even became the white phoenix of the crown, the main Avatar of the Phoenix Force.

so having no Jean in this story and having the cookoos take the phoenix force understandably makes people upset.

BUT Pak said you can’t tell a phoenix story without Jean Grey. I am not sure how i feel about this series. With only a mention of Jean so far it makes me question what they are doing, but guys this is only issue two. We should hav e little more faith in them. I mean He did a great Job with Endsong… I think he “Gets it” the whole Jean/Phoenix thing. so lets wait and see how this turns out.

Reread the original concept of the Phoenix. In UXM 101-137, Jean became the Phoenix when she achieved her full potental as a psi. The Phoenix was nothing more than her alter ego.

Just look at other mutants who are at the same power level as Jean/Phoenix. Nate Grey, the Scarlet Witch, and Franklin Richards. There isn’t an entity in these cases, nor is there one in Jean’s case.

And also, we see no Phoenix voice in this issue, so it’s all ABOUT the origin of the cuckoos.

What is every body complanning about!!????
jean is the phoenix so what?? She is one of my favorite characters so what she can’t go true the endless cirkle of live and dead and by the way she isn’t dead she is searching forthe missing fragments of herself and the force and as implied at the beginning of endsong it has been scattered over (((((three))))) galacties so she will be gone for a while

In the mean time the story has to evolve jean hassend been the only host and despite the force omega level connections to Rachel and Jean.
Amber hunt a pyrokinetic had it feron and merlyne
had it

What i do agree with you guys is that marvel is making Rachel weaker than she is and completally ignoring het chronokinetic powers which both Cable Nate and she shared. but i do like her phoenix eye mark what about you guys

So we have to EVOLVE and now its time for a new generation to take the phoenix (Rachel, Quentin and the three in one) In this isue it is stated that the Cuckoos’ bones are actually pistons composed of a yet-to-be disclosed metal. We also learn that they have the ability to mentally communicate with each other in Binary Language, at a rate far too rapid for other telepaths to decipher.(and if emma can’t intersept it maybe a boy with a faster than light brain could => Quentin who by the way just waked out of his stasis by the cuckoos.

Emma goes on to discover that the girls had placed all of the X-Men, including its most powerful telepaths, into a looping psionic system-block which would disable their linear thought process whenever they began to question the Cuckoos’ origin.

And finally, the episode concludes with the Three-In-One’s discovery that they’re only three of several hundreds/thousands of identical female units– the rest residing within individual incubation chambers hidden within an underground laboratory.HALLO readers its a freaking clone army (starwars) made by sublime for whatever purpose and that isn’t COOL ?????? shut up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

First, the Phoenix voice does not talk in this issue, but Jean is mentioned a couple of times. Cyke worries that the Cuckoos will not be able to control the Phoenix because he says not even Jean could control it. One of the Cuckoos voices this concern, as well.

The artist makes a mistake, too. At one point, when they are talking about Jean, we see a panel that is supposed to be her, but it’s Emma in her white Phoenix outfit from Endsong. The colorists must have realized the mistake because, although it looks like Emma, she has red hair and the white costume is colored red. lol So it’s this weird image of Jean in Emma’s Phoenix costume. lol

Anyhow, the Cuckoos are Weapon Plus projects. Emma says that the Cuckoos are not the Phoenix yet. She knows what the Phoenix feels like because it once took over her body. She says it has not yet awakened inside them.

The “World” from Grant Morrison’s run is used again, as that is from where the Cuckoos came. Sophie and Esme are referred to as “zombie Cuckoos” by Kitty, and later as “pentium zombie Cuckoos” since Beast discovers that they have nano technology over their bones.

Emma finds that there is a mental block in everyone’s mind, and that is why they never wondered where the Cuckoos came from. Even Jean, as powerful a telepath as she was, didn’t know anything about them.

In one panel, one of the Cuckoos says to Scott, “We’re not Jean Grey… we’re worse.”

At the end, the Cuckoos go to the Weapon Plus project where they meet up with some guy (maybe Sublime?) and talk about their destiny. We see tons of pods with Cuckoos in them.

Sophie and Esme didn’t go with their sisters. They went inside the mansion and used Cerebra to remind the other sisters of their real purpose.

So this is what we know: The Cuckoos were created in the World and are Weapon Plus projects. There are more than just five. Emma doesn’t think they are the Phoenix now (even though they manifested a raptor), and that it hasn’t awakened inside them yet. The Cuckoos have a purpose designed by their creator. The three sisters do say that the Phoenix is what brought Esme and Sophie back.

The big question is still why the Phoenix is with them and why they are manifesting raptors. I am thinking the Phoenix has come to disinfect them. Emma even says it is easier to fight three little Weapon Pluses than three little Dark Phoenixes.

I’m not sure what I think of this issue yet. It’s a Cuckoo story with a little bit of Phoenix.

yeah am a bit disappointed that at first I thought it was a jean story, but it turned out to be a cuckoos story.

Concluding #2 states that in was the nanotech that revived the dead cuckoos and that the powers of three in one are a part of the weapon plus program. even emma sensed that the three in one were not the phoenix, and it has no cosmic hunger. So the actual Phoenix Force did not possess the Cuckos, at first everyone thought so at #1. the Cuckos were only 5 of many copies of the weapon plus program.

If the real Phoenix did ressurect the dead Cuckoos they would have regenerated to their human form but they didnt. they were just walking and thinking corpses/zombies with the help of nanotechnology in their bones.

Confusing to read at first, A lot reacted on forums that it “sucked, blowed chunks , save ur money, shame on you Marvel, etc…”

yeah i was disappointed too a bit, kasi nga magulo pagkakapresent ng panelling at di madaling maiintindihan ng average readers.

It may seem like its about the origin of the cuckoos and not about a story of Phoenix, but…. its only #2 3 more to find out.

My speculation is the Phoenix is planning to disinfect the three in one and maybe save them from the Weapon plus program.

I turned out in #2 that the cuckoos were just 5 of the hundreds of copies made by the Weapon Plus program which create monster super soldiers.

In the 1st issue, a shard talked to a Cuckoo, then the 3 were somehow lured to the graveyard where Jean , and their 2 dead sisters are buried.

A voice (black word bubble) is talking to them, then suddenly the cuckoos flew but not intently and the voice said “no, its not time yet, wait!”

After that the voice was silent for a while. Then when the cuckoos wre separated , Each were fighting a teacher, as they were about to strike their power… the voice again screamed “No!”

The Phoenix raptor manifested with the three in one.

Then, the dead sisters Esme and Sophie left their graves, saying ” our sisters need us…” I think it wasnt the Phoenix that raised them but the its the Weapon plus program tech that activated them to rise , go to Cerebra to be able to talk and awaken the three in one about their real purpose and then transferred data about their program and the location of the “the World” where the weapon plus base is.

Celeste thought it was the Phoenix (the “fire”)that raised them and that they will become like Jean before, Dark Phoenix destroying the world. But Sophie (one of the dead)said “it isn’t what the “fire” we brings.. we have a different destiny to fulfill.”

So they went to the Weapon plus location by the transferred data from the 2 dead sisters.

Beast confirmed that what made the dead cuckoos walk and talk were the nanotechnology which Wolverine found on the bones of an arm he cut off from one of them.

Emma also said that even though the sisters manifested a Phoenix fire it doesnt feel like the real Phoenix that is awakened . Meaning that the Real Phoenix is not actually hosted by the Cuckoos as many will first interpret ,only a voice in their heads.

what is uncertain here is that how did they manifest a Phoenix raptor, fly and shoot flames, is it part of the weapon plus program ?

and many other possibilities, what if the program made in their tech the Phoenix raptor ability, which they could have copied from Jean when she was alive. And why were the cuckoos so similar to Emma’s looks? It is also possible that they patterned the image of these girls to her.

Much will still be revealed. Pak said that this storyline is about understanding Jean / Phoenix and their future. So the cuckoos origin is not the main story here I think but a thing or mission that the Phoenix needs to resolve.

possible SPOILERS

I did like that they remembered that the cuckoos are Weapon 14 (revealed in Here Comes Tomorrow). And I’m glad they seem to be acknowledging Sublime (which is ultimately Jean Grey/Phoenix’s villian).

I also think that this piece of Jean/Phoenix came to warn the others about the cuckoos or disinfect them of Sublime.

I just wished we could see Jean in the White Hot Room collecting her pieces as White Phoenix of the Crown.

Hopefully Jean will hatch from her Phoenix Egg soon.

I also hope that they acknowledge that while Jean cut away the Here Comes Tomorrow future that Jean still lived through it.

Here Comes Tomorrow was the conclusion to her 2nd biggest Phoenix story and it should not be ignored.

I like what the do with the serie I think it will be a lean greyPhoenix story after all. in the beginning every body thought that emma got the force well the were wrong it was just to shock us so maybe the first two issues are to and it will be a phoenix storty after all

In here comes tomorrow jean calmly eliminates a species because the have a genetic flaw how could she know that is it a form of omniscience??

I have a few questions for you guys if you would awnser them i’ll be thankfull

1 Jean and Rachel both had the phoenix force but are the both omega level mutants, because nimrod stated rachel as one to and she could handle the force so i think so but??

2Why do you think the ignore Rachel in the phoenix songs story’s??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????????and do you think this should be handled in a possible sequal??

3 I have a opinion: Nate Grey had powers rivaling dark phoenix and Jean herself only his(and cables) powers could burn out and Jeans and Rachels couldn’t
do you think rachels powers are stronger than Nates (is not cable he is Nathan) i think so because her tk could turn her into a dinosaur, create a black hole and levitate a city and she could teleport true time as an astral form and rewind time in x men the end so and has a psychometric ability to
Nate so got nate who could pull astral projections out of the plane fase like kitty telekinetically and create holograms telekinetically so she is at least rivalling his power so not powerfuller because her powers can’t burn out before she is 21.

last question who do you think was a powerfuller MARVEL GIRL (not phoenix because that was jean)
Rachel or Jean??
i think rachel because in my latter explanation jean couldn’t telekinetically transform into a dinosaur or has ever seen to levitate an entire city like rachel did in cable and deadpool

Final question how is it possible for Rachel to use her powers with a phoenix mark over her eye ??
is she still connected to it

and is psylock an Omega level mutant now she has jeans telekinesis??? because she keeps saying her powers are only limited by thought! on the other hand her powers seem to be nothing compared to Rachel

PLEASE RESPOND BE CAUSE I HAD THIS QUESTIONS FOR A WHILE!!!!!!

What i do agree with you guys is that marvel is making Rachel weaker than she is and completally ignoring het chronokinetic powers which both Cable Nate and she shared. but i do like her phoenix eye mark what about you guys

My question is, if and when jean returns to
X-men or uncanny x-men will she finaily get a chance and give brith to rachel or will
she Stay in the white hot room I mean come on we already know about cable and nate grey but what about rachel she already living up to jean grey ,frist proving that she the one true phoenix , wareing the crimson mark of the phoenix just like jean and she has a tattoo on her back making it
Officel that she is like her mom and better
she bet the anti phoenix and the phoenix force safe her and she wore many phoenix out fit so the girls got stlye and she seams to be in a class of her own so I hope
That after (phoenix-warsong) that a new chapter will start will jean grey coming out of the white hot room get over the whole scott left me for emma its starting to get over rated now so she and rachel can move on with there lives thanks

Steven your my man !!!!!!!!!!!

have you already read rise/fall of the shiar empire
Rachel absorbs the powers of the phoenix sword (it has a piece of the force in itself) that was meant to behead her and after absorbing its power her golden phoenix signature turns blue and the shiar say the sword got weaker so rachel must be powerfuller now so with power change you think she would get??:;

1 her telepathy grows to empathy or precognition & her teke grows stronger, maybe on dark phoenix level and control over the white hot room to warp reality

2 Her chronoskimmig talent grows to chronokinesis the complete manipulation of time

3 her shadowform power grows and she can now steal the shadows of others possess them and absorb their nightmares and negative emotions and shadowteleport like betsy could and trap people in shadows

4 (this is the point i think it will grow to ) dark phoenix powers were backed by the power of the sun And jean when she had the force and was alive could create heat blasts and solar flaming energy aura’s SOOOOOOOOOOO i think she will get pyrokinesis not only for flames but also for bringing the judgement of the phoenix and burn away what doesn’t work.

I think it will definitely grow because as in X men the end she could open star gates something only phoenix hosts can do and she now still can’t
I also like professor X teaching her controlling her powers she maybe after full teaching outflank emma as a telepath and make her bush league

Seriously. The Phoenix Force was driven insane by the Shi’ar (did anybody actually pay attention to Endsong?). Chances are it’s gonna inhabit the most powerful entity handy, that being the Cuckoos (particularly with all the power they hold, being able to channel hundreds of themselves and all).

As for Jean, the last bit of the Phoenix Force needs to be exorcised and sent back to the White Hot Room before she can come back as a sane being. I hope it happens….I love her character so much!
