Any “Phoenix” series without the character of Jean Grey is a waste of trees.

Marvel, bring back Jean Grey!!!!

Okay, Im actually one of those ppl who likes Emma and Jean and I felt sorry for Emma when Jean was like “Knuck If You Buck” on her, but Im gonna miss Jean alot. I always have trouble reading any X-Men books when shes not in them.

Josh August 30th, 2006

Meh. I’ll probably wait for the next Phoenix mini that actually has, you know, Phoenix in it. Emma Frost and the Cuckoos just can’t fill the Jean-void.

Carrie August 30th, 2006

Will NOT be buying this-no Jean=no sell.

How’s it phoenix without Jean???
Didn’t Pak state in Endsong that Jean and Phoenix are one?
Now he’s going back just to highlight Emma and her darlings?

Avatar

Justin August 30th, 2006

Will you people just chill and wait until the series is out? Get over it already.

And how do we know that Jean isn’t in this series. Jean, as plain Jean or as the Phoenix, is perfectly capable of possessing others. She possessed Emma Frost for the first time around UXM 281.

And will you guys stop trying to put Jean in contests against other female characters.

Emma isn’t the focus of this series.

Avatar

Marcelo August 30th, 2006

I’ve read that Phoenix Warsong is not about bringing back Jean and it just pisses me off! Jean is the reason I started buying X-Men comics (like so many people) and, at this point of the story, put Phoenix stories without Jean is just preposterous!

MARVEL BRING JEAN BACK!

Avatar

Loz August 31st, 2006

I’m not so bothered about Jeans return right now as the dynamic to the Xmen with Scott and Emma together is just far more interesting in the storylines coming out, but thats not to say that i didn’t enjoy the Pheonix endsong and doesn’t mean i won’t give this series a try.

Did you guys not see the tombstone? It says Jean Grey-Summers, she will RISE again. So what’s the grief?

And if you guys want people to listen to you, please stop the pathetic whining. In the last couple of years, Marvel wrote a lot of characters of, especially powerful ones and especially powerful females. The Scarlet Witch, Storm, Thor, Phoenix, Polaris, Magneto, etc. Yet everyone who was written off, depowered, or killed was brought back and repowered. It will be the same with Jean.

The cuckoos obviously have a fragment of Phoenix (see the end of Endsong), and as Endsong said, Jean is collecting her missing fragments, meaning by the end of the series, Jean will come calling to reclaim what’s rightfully hers.

As for what some of you may have read, well, some internet sites claimed Jean wasn’t going to be in Endsong. Yet she was.

Now please stop all of this negative whining if you don’t like Marvel products MOVE ON!

Frankly, I think they’re diluting the Phoenix concept, but that’s not why I’m not buying this book. I picked up a preview copy at the shop and it just looks . . . rather bad, to be honest. Not at all well-written, and I don’t like the art. Seems to me that they’re just trying to cash in on a popular old story, which strikes me as kind of cheap.

Hell, I didn’t really like Endsong either. They retcon what the Phoenix *is* every couple of years, and it’s becoming frustrating.

I’d like Jean back, too, but it seems to me that it needs to take awhile.

(Frankly, I always thought Jean did better not being the Phoenix, and if anyone’s going to have it, I’d rather it were Rachel. I rather like the idea of a succession, a family line tied to the force. But oh well, it’s not as though I work for Marvel. ;))

So if you don’t like it, then don’t read it, and be done with it. MOVE ON.

Avatar

Chris September 1st, 2006

The largest questions that should be asked about this series is not infact the lack of jean grey, but in fact the lack of greg land’s art. His art was what really sold me on the first series

Avatar

Caleb September 1st, 2006

Michael: Correction. Any “Phoenix” series without Rachel Summers is a waste of trees.

Avatar

Justin September 1st, 2006

Rachel not only isn’t the original Phoenix (Jean is), she hasn’t had the codename since 1993 or so.

Avatar

Jayson September 4th, 2006

U know Marvel will just keep teasing the fans. Everytime the word “Phoenix” pops up, everyone wants to see if Jean is coming back, everyone starts making a big fuss and starts complaining!

Come on people…Who knows when Jean will come back, but everyone knows she’ll be back eventually. So just stop questioning it, let it happen and relax…

Avatar

Luis M Orsini September 4th, 2006

It would be interesting to see who the Phoenix force possesses next. As long as it eventually returns to Jean. She’s always been very special.

Avatar

Mooncatx September 4th, 2006

I’m buying it *^_^* My copy’s on pre-order and I can’t wait.

Jean will probably be in the story somewhere, but I’m buying it because it’s an X-men title with a lot of my fave characters in it. Jean isn’t the only character in the world for me. I really liked Endsong, so I expect a good read from the same author.

Plus, Emma and the Cuckoos, yum!

Emma and the Cuckoos, YUCK! i have cut my comic book purchasing down a great deal to escape the morally depraved Emma and Scott characters. they DESERVE each other. for now, the Ultimate X-men is the only thing i can collect where Jean hasn’t been replaced by Emma. every time i see Emma surrounded by the Phoenix raptor, i feel like Marvel tramples on Jean again

Avatar

Enrique De Jesus September 5th, 2006

Me I cannot wait to read Warsong, I’m excited that they are finally they’re going to reveal the origin of the Cuckoos it has been a long time coming.

Avatar

Lucky September 6th, 2006

I for one am personally am getting tired of seeing and hearing about the Phoenix story over and over again.

“Ooh She can destroy the world, Jean is SO powerful… the Shi’ar have to kill her…Phoenix is going to take a new host..blah blah”…

New Story Please! There’s nothing new about these Phoenix stories. So repetitive…

As for the whole Jean coming back…people should just let it go. Who knows when she’s coming back so quit trying to predict it. She’ll probably be back when you least expect it, But I’ll be extremely surprised if she makes her “big return” in one of these one-shot series…but I hardly doubt that.

I’m happy that this comic is focusing on the Cuckoos and Emma. I like that they are trying to be progressive and quit trying to rehash old stuff. I’m excited to learn more about the Cuckoos. I think they are probably one of the most interesting younger mutants at the school.

As for Emma, I think she’s a dynamic charcter, and especially with Joss Whedon’s touch in Astonishing; I think she’s going to be a vital character in the X-universe.

Avatar

Carlos Rivera September 8th, 2006

I am so tired of Marvel killing Jean everytime she starts to get very interesting. I like Emma ,but enough of her is time for her to go and Jean to come back. Hopefully not to go back to Scott. I wont buy the warsong series without Jean in it. Thanks

Avatar

sinosleep September 10th, 2006

Are you people complaining serious? Give me a friggen break here, one of the BIGGEST complaints in comicdom is people getting ressurected every other year. I think at this point Jean’s “died” and come back like 6 times. GIVE IT A FRIGGEN REST ALREADY and just kill her off FOR GOOD.

I can not believe you people are actually ASKING for a ressurection.

Avatar

Astonishment September 10th, 2006

Call this random, but there’s a small cameo to ” A series of Unfortunate events” in this issue. If you look at Esme’s Grave, it says “Esme, with Pride, and Squalor.” But strangely enough, you only really see “Esme,” and “Squalor”–which is incidentally the name of the femme fatale in the book-series.

Avatar

Q September 11th, 2006

I, personally, am ecstatic about the upcoming series. The whole concept of the Phoenix Force possessing others is interesting in itself. We all know Jean will emerge again.. She is the supreme phoenix (white outfit as seen in the end of endsong.) For all of you that are complaining and whining… GET OVER IT! Break out that little box of what YOU think should happen and just go with the flow. The storyline is very interesting but the art was downgraded in my opinion… Can’t wait to see what Marvel hold for the rest of the series and series to come.

Avatar

Hand213 September 12th, 2006

Esme’s tombstone is a reference to the J.D. Salinger story, “For Esme, with Love and Squalor,” published in the collection _Nine Stories_.

X comics have been better without Jean…I’m happy to hear that Jean will have nothing to do with htis series…Emma has brough another dynamic to X comics….she’s a far more dynamic character then 2 Diminesional Jean….and she is not overly powered…Conclusion keep Jean dead…

Avatar

Eric September 18th, 2006

What would be really dynamic is to to bring back Jean have her truly grow fro her experiences and give her the same treatment Emma has been given. I like Emma just fine but taking Jean and having her balance her character more by indulging in some selfish behaviuour but balanced would be the same but opposite in effect to what has turned Emma from a 2 dimensional mustache twirling baddie to a charecter to be reckoned with.

let jean come back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and scot !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! they are the best

come on. if there is going to be a X men 4 then jean and scot should be in it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! come on fox and marvel

Avatar

domino October 14th, 2006

What is this mysterious dynamic that everyone talks about with Emma? Is it the I nag everyone until I get my way, and if that doesn’t work I belittle them and anyone who’s ever known them to death?

Uhm….yeah, that’s a GREAT dynamic.

Plus, I’ve never seen Scott become such a sap with anyone else before…..
BE A MAN SCOTT, and find a pair!

They said before they made new x-men series that they are going to have a proper phoenix and jean resurrection. New X-men was the first of the trilogy then Endsong now ending with Warsong, so if the plan was to make a jean/phoenix trilogy I don’t think Jean will miss out in the FINAL part of the trilogy

Avatar

Liam November 1st, 2006

oh just a crazy story which I again I think would be good so don’t slat it ok
I think it would be cool if Jean went crazy not the phoenix force, to set it of ermm oh jean starts to love Logan but she doesn’t want a relationship with him because she’s not always there for him(been the phoenix in all) so she has all this love trapped in her and she wants rid of it so she loves something that’s always there with her …… the phoenix force, then she starts to think the people in the white hot room are going to try and take phoenix away from her so she goes to the white hot room and starts to attack the other hosts and actually removes the from existence with ease not main hosts like Quintin but background host that haven’t been in comic books before. At the end Phoenix asks Logan to love Jean , jean picks up on Logan’s emotions and she gets restored to her old self. You pick your own ending if she brings back the host she’s killed or leaves them

sorry for double post

well i do belive jean to be the greatest carachter in x-men histry the most powerfull and self sacrificed but she is not at all 2-dimensional she in fact has managed a very unique roll and way of being treated over the years she hasent at all benn miss-treated in any way she has been marvels treasure and im shure she is still…why?:
1.-She will come back its for shure
2.-She will be moved on by marvel into a new era you know she wont have too have scott aorund to exist
3.-She well be more tough
4.-Shes “jean and always will be no matter how she grows or what the universe tell her”
so just give marvel a break and oyu will see how phoenix/jean comes back more agresive self confident and self/employed (lol)than ever no more depending on scott and x-men for a change a real cosmic force too deal with
and id really really rather have her as a hot mean diabolic bi….(like emma lol )i want a cold phoenix not any (i love my friends so much it kills) anymore. aurevoir mon ami

Ok, I loved endsong and will totally be getting warsong. I think they have previously overplayed Jean, and even though comic version isn’t as annoying as evolution one, she is still annoying. But recently Emma’s grown on me. I also do love the cuckoos so I can completely read this book and adore the absolutely amazing art.

I love Pheonix, but it seems like Team Marvel is gettin a lil desperate with comic sales. Jean needs to stay dead, but with the whole Scarlet Witch/House of M/Resserection of Hawkeye thing…who knows.

Avatar

marion December 14th, 2006

i think that they should bring jean back but this time have her not so associated with the x-men they should have her using her cosmic powers to better the universe/multiverse. since she is a cosmic being she should start battling and conversating herself with them instead of having a cosmic deity like herself reduced to battling the x-men whom she easily dominants that’s just stupid as the white crown phoenix they should have her and LT watching and governing over they multiverse and answering cosmic imbalances. i think that would be a good way to keep her alive but distant from the xmen

from spain i say: we want jean back in marvel…
emma is great but is not greather enougth… jean grey is a wonderful character and would be cool have her back… she is death but she has resurrected so many times… she should stay alive this time… and who knows… if scott is in love with emma maybe would be a chance for wolverine and jennie this time… dreaming is free…
