Canibus. Keith Murray. Two legendary middle weights from what’s widely considered Hip-Hop’s golden age. They’ve apparently been working on a collab album for a minute now, and what I’ve heard sounds like something right out of 90’s era hip-hop. Their UNDERGODs album hit iTunes today, but some fans are already saying that the pairing between these two legendary rappers is probably 15 years too late.
I beg to differ. Underground hip-hop and “legendary” artist resurgences seem to be on the upswing. Just in the past year, we’ve had new albums from Sadat X, Grand Puba, Q-Tip, and word on the street is that even REDMAN is working on a new album. Hell, I don’t care how long it took, KRS-ONE and Buckshot’s ROBOT was like a splash of cold water. With the overflow of candied hip-hop dominating the airwaves, I’m thinking Undergods is right on time.
The Undergods EP has production by long time Keith Murray beat-maker, the legendary Eric Sermon, The Beatminerz, & Amadeus. Grab it on iTunes for $5.99.
Listen to a track from the album after the jump.
