Anime fans rejoice! The now classic manga and anime series, Rurouni Kenshin, has been adapted into a live-action film in Japan. Rurouni Kenshin is the tale of a young and violent samurai during feudal Japan who killed many in his battles. After the war the samurai turns to a life of non-violence and only fights when provoked. Kenshin uses a sword with a reversed blade so as to only strike with the non-lethal, blunt edge. Details of whether the live-action film will chronicle Kenshin’s violent “Samurai X” years or his adventures in “Rurouni Kenshin” are blurry right now as the movie’s homepage is in all Japanese. Below is the most well-known info to date:

Keishi ?tomo is directing “Rurouni Kenshin” starring 22-year-old actor Takeru Satoh (Kamen Rider Den-O, Rookies, Beck, Ry?maden) as Kenshin. 17-year-old actress Emi Takei plays the heroine Kaoru Kamiya. Yuu Aoi (Hana and Alice, Honey and Clover) plays Megumi Takani, Munetaka Aoki (The Last Message Umizaru, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time) is Sanosuke Sagara, and Taketo Tanaka plays Yahiko My?jin. Kouji Kikkawa (Let’s Dance With Papa) as Jine Ud?, Yosuke Eguchi (Shonan Bakusozoku, Tokyo Love Story) as Hajime Sait?, and Teruyuki Kagawa (From Up On Poppy Hill, 20th Century Boys) as Kanry? Takeda.

The film will open in Japan on August 25, 2012.

The first trailer for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus is finally here! Set to be the tie-in for the Alien series that’ll stage the beginnings of a series, Prometheus will focus on a mythology within the Alien universe without being a concrete prequel.

With Prometheus, he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. The upcoming science fiction film is scehduled to hit theaters June 8, 2012 and stars Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Guy Pearce, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green and Charlize Theron.

The latest Saints Row: The Third trailer has us walking away feeling that we’ve seen all of this somewhere before. Maybe it’s just us here at PopCultureshock, but does this feel like a jab at Battlefield 3? How about Modern Warfare 3? Could it be (gasp) both Battlefield 3 and Modern Warfare 3?!

It’s obvious that THQ and Volition have great senses of humor with this harmless (and hilarious) trailer that’s absolutely a mashup of the best parts of both the Battlefield 3 and the Modern Warfare 3 trailers. But, all joking aside, the new trailer shows off the Special Tactical Anti-Gang unit (STAG) the in-game military force that’s specifically designed to handle exactly what the 3rd Street Saints represent.

Outfitted with hover jets, speeder bikes, laser tanks, and a flying aircraft carrier, STAG is after both the Syndicate and the Saints. Check out the trailer and check out all of the over-the-top action planned for release this coming November for PS3, 360, and PC.
