The PSP Now Has Rapping Puppies

It’s been a long time since gamers were first introduced to Parappa The Rapper. The K-9 lyricist burst onto the scene a decade ago on the original PlayStation and introduced gamers to a gameplay that would become the basis for modern music and rythm games. Sony is celebrating the tenth anniversary by releasing the classic game on the PSP.

The timing-based gameplay mechanic allows players to rap to the addictive music by pressing buttons corresponding to the beat. As players’ skill levels progress, they are able to break free into a one-of-a-kind freestyle session, giving individuals the freedom to create a new experience with every play. Players are scored on how well they can keep up with ratings that range from “Awful” to “Cool.”

In addition to keeping the game true to the original, Parappa The Rapper adds a few new features this time around including the ability for four players to compete head-to-head in ad-hoc battles. The new game also
allows players to wirelessly share a demo level with four PSP systems simultaneously.
