Anyone watching the show for the lessons will get it. Anyone else won't. The Boondocks is Magruder's wake up call to the black community to try and focus on fixing the problems that only blacks themselves can fix. There is a division and Magruder exposes it in a comical, yet slightly shocking way. WAKE UP!!! Magruder’s BOONDOCKS show is only offensive to the type of blacks who the show points the finger at. So much great stuff from the strips. But I thought McGruder failed to step up in the first season. He appeared to want to have instant South Park shock and awe by being offensive, overwhelmingly to blacks, and loss some of the insights on race, politics and popular culture that I thought we're so original and hilarious in the strips. Maybe season 2 will live up to my high expectations. So much potential. So much great stuff from the strips. But I thought McGruder failed to step up in the first season.
