Katee Sackhoff will make her return to sci-fi with a role in the upcoming Riddick sequel, which has resumed production in Montreal. Sackhoff will play Dahl, a mercenary that will be hunting Riddick over the course of the film.

Production of the next Chronicles of Riddick film which was announced to have started production earlier this year has run aground due to a serious problem — no money.

TMZ has reported that the new sequel, which would have Vin Diesel stepping back into the boots of ex-con Riddick who’s known for kicking all sorts of alien ass and taking names, has been put on hold over some serious cash flow issues. The new film would have been the second Riddick film (or third film if you consider it part of the continuity of 2000′s hit Pitch Black).

The owner of the Montreal studio where the new movie is being shot, Michel Trudel, told TMZ he changed the locks and kicked everyone off the set Wednesday because the production company, One Race Films, has failed to pay up on time. One Race Films was founded by Vin Diesel who is set as producer and leading star in the upcoming sequel. Trudel reportedly isn’t the only one having trouble getting money from the company as sources connected to production have admitted several members of the crew have not been paid in over 2 weeks.

Trudel is sure the situation will be resolved soon and that he can let production resume once the money shows up.
