Fox is set to reboot the 90′s hit comedy sketch show In Living Color. Plans are being made for Fox to air two half-hour specials of In Living Color in the spring, with the option to pick it up to series next season.

Keenen Ivory Wayans will produce the two half-hour specials based on his classic sketch comedy series, which helped launch the careers of his own family as well as those of Jamie Foxx, David Alan Grier and Jim Carrey, among others. The revival is being billed as a contemporary take on the hit sketch comedy show that will feature a new cast of fresh, young talent as well as musical performances by special guests. The specials will be produced in association with 20th Century Fox TV spin off Fox 21, the company behind Homeland, Breakout Kings and Sons of Anarchy.

The news comes mere months after Fox attempted to create an original sketch comedy series, In the Flow with Affion Crockett. The short-lived, half-hour series hosted by Affion Crockett and executive produced by Jamie Foxx.

Deadline is reporting that FOX has bought the rights to the DC Comics character The Spectre, and are now in the process of developing the property as a supernatural drama for the network.

The Spectre, which has received a script commitment, centers on a former cop serving time in afterlife limbo who hunts down earthly criminals on behalf of the dead — and mortals soon to be dead if ultimate justice is not served. DC Entertainment’s sister TV studio Warner Bros TV will produce with Gerber Pictures.

A reactionary move on Fox’s part to contend with the Deadman series being developed over at the CW? Who knows? But Deadman’s got Supernatural creator Eric Kripke running the show, and The Spectre has . . . . the screenwriter of Love Happens.

I’ve already felt like this show has gone past its sell-by date, but if this doesn’t clinch it, I don’t know what else would. For a show that’s run as long as House, and has since begun a noticeable downturn, this kind of change can almost certainly spell doom for the show’s upcoming season, which may be its last anyway.

With that in mind, the actor told us that he and the studio have already agreed to some key terms. “He’s going to be the Merc with the Mouth, [we’re going to give] all those answers that everyone wants,” Reynolds explained. “He’s going to have the scarred-up face, he’s going to be in the suit — and, it’s going to be incredible.”

Somehow the conversation started with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, then managed to stumble its way toward some of the worst comic-based movies ever. Whether that betrays our thoughts on Wolverine or not, I guess you’ll have to listen to find out. It’s a long one. Sorry about the sound issues.
