Since the release of Dead Space 2 this past January, everyone wants to know what’s going to happen next. Sources from IGN.com have revealed that an Israeli news show may have discovered the scoop on what’s quite possibly Dead Space 3. Since that discovery some details for the next chapter in Isaac Clarke’s nightmarish adventure have started to crop up.

The new adventure is looking like it may take place planetside and not in space. The planet in question is called Tau Volantis, an icy planet where Isaac Clarke has to wade through white-out blizzard conditions quite similar to the environments seen in Lost Planet. Surviving a crash on the inhospitable planet, Isaac soon discovers he isn’t the only survivor on the planet and learns that Ellie has also survived and has left for another location with a group of people. Isaac eventually meets a new character named Jennifer before facing enemies that were called “the hive mind” by the source.

Electronic Arts has been pushing big for Dead Space to become it’s own big franchise and with 2 main games, 3 spin-offs (Dead Space: Ignition on Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network, Dead Space for iPhone and iPad and Dead Space: Extraction for Wii and PS3) and 2 animated movies (Dead Space: Downfall and Dead Sapce: Aftermath) as well as comics and 2 novels the series is practically striking gold for publisher. The franchise, which is well known for all of its chills and suspense, has the new Dead Space title looking to be an homage to John Carpenter’s 80′s thriller The Thing. You won’t be able to play the full game until February 9, 2010, but we’ve given the game the Quarter Up! so you can decide whether it’s worth spending the hours downloading the massive demo or not.

For Xbox 360 players, Dante’s Inferno is being called the God of War alternative for good reason. See if Dante’s hellish adventure will satiate your desire for demon slaying and gratuitous nudity. Can this holy warrior give the God-slaying Kratos a run for his money?

Probably the closest thing you’ll find to an 8 hour horror movie, Dead Space was arguably one of the most visceral gaming experiences of 2008. It wasn’t the sales success that Electronic Arts had hoped, but in a crowded holiday season of excellent titles, the mature and brutally cinematic game might’ve been too much for the average consumer to take in.

Now a year removed, and Dead Space hasn’t aged a bit. Retailing for $19.99 (PC, Xbox 360, & PS3), and with Halloween around the corner, you owe it to yourself to check out what I personally considered one of my most traumatic experiences in the last few years. If you consider yourself a fan of horror, think of Dead Space as an interactive assault. Terrifying throughout the entire 8 hour campaign, Dead Space is one of the few games that got an honest emotional reaction out of me. You’re isolated on the U.S.S. Ishimura, and the violence that you inflict is so deliberate and gruesome, that it becomes revolting. Seriously. I really want to give a full spotlight review of this year old game, but I believe that the attached Dead Space: Top 5 Deaths video I found on YouTube (thanks Bitmob) says it better than anything I could type.

If fear excites you, get ready for an adrenaline rush. Dead Space is a gaming-cinematic masterpiece, and the gap between movie and interactive gaming is paper thin. This is a Hollywood production through-and-through. In this tough economy, 19.99 is one of the most compelling arguments around to pick up one of the best games you’ll play this year….or ever.

Marking the first title of its kind for the company, EA has big expectations for the title and from what we’ve played of it so far they have good reason to.

Set five hundred years in the future, Dead Space follows the story of Isaac Clarke, a normal systems engineer, who is sent with a small repair team to restore communications aboard an immense mining ship, the USG Ishimura. Once onboard the vessel, Isaac discovers that the crew has unearthed an ancient and malevolent alien presence far beneath the planet’s surface and brought it onboard. It’s a living nightmare onboard the Ishimura, which has turned into a floating bloodbath, as the crew has been unspeakably mutilated and infected by an ancient alien scourge. Clarke’s repair mission becomes one of survival as he fights not just to save himself, but to return the artifact to the planet at any cost.
