Capcom has announced today that Resident Evil 6 is in full development and scheduled for release on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on November 20, 2012 with a Windows PC version to follow.

It has been ten years since the Raccoon City incident and the President of the United States has decided to reveal the truth behind what took place in the belief that it will curb the current resurgence in bioterrorist activity. Due to be by the President’s side is his personal friend and Raccoon City survivor, Leon S. Kennedy, but when the venue suffers a bioterrorist attack, Leon is forced to face a President transformed beyond recognition and make his hardest ever decision. At the same time, Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance member Chris Redfield arrives in China, itself under threat of a bioterrorist attack.  With no country safe from these attacks and the ensuing outbreaks, the entire world’s population is united by a common fear that there is no hope left.

In a first for the franchise, Resident Evil 6 sees series favorites Leon and Chris come together to face this unprecedented threat. They will be joined by new characters, each with their own unique perspective and involvement, in this relentless dramatic horror experience enacted on a global scale.

The retail pre-order campaign for Resident Evil 6 also kicks off today. GameStop, Best Buy and Amazon.com will each get an exclusive map that will function with various modes in the game. Capcom is showing fighting fans some true love today with a brand new cinematic trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken which finally delivers the one and only M. Bison. In this newest anime style we see Jin Kazama and Ling Xiaoyu squaring off against Juri and the big boss of Shadaloo and there’s a heavy serving of fan service this time around.

Street Fighter X Tekken is scheduled to hit PS3 and 360 March 6, 2012 and TBA later for Vita and PC.

Capcom delivered up a brand new trailer for Street Fighter X Tekken today that showed off Balrog, Juri, Vega, Paul, Law, and Xiaoyu getting down and dirty. Seeing the new additions were all good and dandy, but the real treat comes at the end of the trailer when it’s showcased coming soon for the PS Vita. As the product info streams along, suddenly we are teased with a silhouette of what can only be Pac-Man beside another familiarly shaped character (we’re not saying who we think that is yet).

Street Fighter X Tekken is scheduled to hit PS3 and 360 March 6, 2012 and TBA later for Vita.

The pirate-themed, real-time strategy/board game from Certain Affinity and Capcom Age of Booty is heading to iOS and Android devices soon.

The company announced that an “all-new version” of the game is in the works, being developed with Chaotic Moon.

Announced for the new Age of Booty will be a single-player campaign, along with real-time multiplayer and cross-platform support. Currently, there’s no announced release date for it.

Okay, before we take this too literal, Monster Hunter 3G was not the highest selling game for the 3DS. It was the third highest seller.

In the craziest turnaround for a system that had been deemed a ‘failed launch’, the 3DS continued to dominate Media Create’s weekly sales chart since holiday. Last week Nintendo’s handheld was clocked moving 240,819 units, a 20% increase over the week prior.

Monster Hunter 3G, which was released on December 10, 2011, has officially crossed the 1 million units sold mark during that week, making it the third 3DS title to do so. To date, Monster Hunter 3G has sold a total of 1,083,853 units, trailing behind the 1,199,285 of Super Mario 3D Land and the 1,317,357 of Mario Kart 7.

Numbers of Nintendo’s latest iteration of the DS have been on a dramatic upsurge starting at last year’s holiday season when various bundles released worldwide for the 3DS including the Mario Kart and Zelda: Ocarina of Time bundles hit shelves and propelled the 3DS into a favorable position among buyers. The 3DS hadn’t started recovering from low performance numbers following the price drops and Nintendo posted a dire profit and loss report for the first half of 2011. Not making the most stellar of sales numbers since it’s launch led to some major decisions being made within the company (including Nintendo head Satoru Iwata taking a voluntary salary pay cut) and Nintendo scrambling to make the 3DS a viable entry in the market.

Following the release of Monster Hunter 3G in Japan (which also received its own 3DS bundle after launch), things really started to move for the 3DS. As a testament to how successful Capcom’s action-RPG truly is, the Monster Hunter series has always been a force to be reckoned with as 3 previous versions of the game on Sony’s PSP sold over 3.5M units combined in Japan and kept the PSP the #1 selling handheld worldwide for nearly 3 years. A fourth title in the series (Monster Hunter 4) has been announced for 3DS and looks to take the game in a new direction with new play mechanics debuting but now, in an interesting turn of events, Sony’s Vita is setting up to get it’s very own Monster Hunter title by the end of the year.

Not to sound bad about this, but it seems that Capcom can ride in to a very sugary romantic rescue with Monster Hunter at the damnedest of times but you won’t catch any of the fans out there complaining about it. It’s going to be very interesting to see whether the Vita, which is seeing the same bit of mediocre sales numbers following launch as the 3DS had, will see a dramatic turn in sales as well. If history is an indicator, I’d say ‘hell yeah!’

Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades recently revealed in an interview about the reception that’s been received behind their upcoming reboot of Capcom’s Devil May Cry series.

Following the game’s announcement in September 2010, there’s been a slew of outcry behind the new project with the 2 major factors being that the game is being handled by a non-Japanese developer and that the main hero (Dante) looks nothing like he has in the previous 4 games. Series creator Hideki Kamiya himself had also expressed disappointment over the new look after Capcom and Ninja Theory made the reveal.

DmC: Devil May Cry, the official title of the game, showcases series protagonist Dante as a Westerner and sees him battling his way across the possessed city of Limbo. Being set in a parallel universe in the Devil May Cry universe, the city appears calm at first, but transforms into a twisted parody of itself rife with demons who frequently attempt to kill Dante. Dante finds himself not only fighting blood thirsty demons but also the ever-changing environment of the city as well.

In an interview with OXM, Antoniades explained some of what he had to expect after the unveiling. ”[Enslaved writer] Alex Garland warned me about it because he experienced a similar thing with 28 Days Later where people were upset that it didn’t feature real zombies.

“So I was half prepared for it, although I have to say that it has been pretty eye opening to see some of the creative ways in which people have chosen to vent their hatred. We didn’t expect death threats in comic book form or anti-DmC death metal songs!”

With the uphill battle that Ninja Theory has had to face since getting the go ahead to create the reboot, the developer intends to stay true to the original formula that is Devil May Cry — the stylish combat. “There is of course an expectation from the fans, which is something that has always been firmly in the minds of both ourselves and Capcom,” Antoniades explained. “The Devil May Cry franchise is well established and much loved, so we want to keep the essence of what makes the series unique.

“Combat is something that we are taking very seriously and is one of the areas that we’re working closely with Capcom on.”

Capcom recently came forward on the matter of fan reception when Christian Stevenson, the Corporate Officer and Senior Vice-President of Capcom, recently posted a short comment regarding the situation. ”Death threats have no place in civilized society. Period.”

Ninja Theory’s Alex Jones feels the outrage will die down as more gameplay footage and impressions enter circulation. “It’s pretty hard for me to back the decisions we made without showing actual gameplay to the public. So until that time comes, and it will come soon, I just have to put up with the rage.

“Though I must say, lots of people have come and said that they are now interested in DmC whereas they had previously lost interest in the series. We’ll see how this plays out.”

The official demo for Asura’s Wrath is going to be available starting today on PlayStation Network, and tomorrow January 11 on Xbox Live in North America.

Capcom has just released the next trailer for Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City which introduces the six members of the US Spec Ops team.

In Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City players take on the role of an elite member of the Umbrella Security Service (USS) squad and battle against all the opposing forces at play in Raccoon City. With the zombies and B.O.W’s adding chaos to the action and the return of favorite Resident Evil enemies all roads will lead to hell when Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City releases on March 20, 2012 in North America for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The PC version will follow shortly after console release.

The newest trailer, titled ‘Triple Threat’ shows off team members Tweed, Dee-Ay, Harley, Willow, Shona and Party Girl as they are dispatched to Raccoon City under orders to determine the source of the mysterious T-virus outbreak. The US Spec Ops team will use their elite skills and training to defeat the Umbrella Security Service (USS) team and ensure the truth behind the outbreak is revealed.

The new trailer shows off the brutal triple threat combat between the USS, US Spec Ops, and zombies and B.O.W’s. How many RE2 era baddies can you spot?

News has popped up that a Monster Hunter title is slated for release in Japan for the PS Vita during the second half of 2012.

This is currently big news for owners of Sony’s newest handheld following troubling news that the next title in the series (Monster Hunter 4) was reported to be a 3DS exclusive as sales of previous Monster Hunter games have made the PlayStation Portable as smash success in Japan. Reports claim that the series will arrive on the handheld but no word has been made if this will be a port of current Monster Hunter Portable 3rd (which was demoed on the Vita) or a remixed version of Monster Hunter 4 (which is supposed to be exclusive to Nintendo’s handheld).

With a Monster Hunter title on the horizon for PS Vita, this could also be the proverbial “booster shot to the arm” needed to pull up the system’s reportedly weak sales.

PlayStation Vita releases in February for the US. As more information comes up (particularly on any US release plans for the series) we’ll keep you posted.

Capcom keeps releasing some of the most exciting news for their upcoming collaboration with Namco Bandai, Street Fighter X Tekken. Things just get more and more zany in the world where Street Fighter and Tekken characters unite and the newest development for the most anticipated project yet is the unveiling of SFxT Swap Costumes.

Swap Costumes takes character customization to a whole new level allowing you to dress up Street Fighter characters in Tekken get-ups and vice versa for the Tekken side of the house. The level of customization involved seems to have been inspired by Tekken’s customization mode, but does not appear to go as deep. Players will be able to customize their character’s looks to include hair, skin tones, costume and accessories. Costumes will also be available as DLC and will feature costumes that crossover between the franchises.

This is where it gets cool: This means that characters will be able to dress up as characters of the opposing franchise! Pictured above, King is sporting duds from Street Fighter III‘s Alex while Guile is pimped out in armored gear that’s completely Jack-6. It gets pretty fantastic when you see Chun Li dressed as Panda (so darn cute, btw), Julia Chang is dressed as Chun Li, Steve Fox sporting Charlie’s hairdo and vest and Ibuki decked out as Tekken 2‘s missing in action Kunimitsu. Other crossovers include Hwoarang as Deejay and Cammy as King.

It’s only been nine months since the release of the top scoring Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds and now the ultimate fighters from the Marvel & Capcom universes collide again. MvC3 was the most highly anticipated sequel to a fighting game in almost all of history (don’t worry, Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will take this mantle soon), but not even a year later, could Capcom have actually shot off the gun too early for fans of the game?

Let’s just go ahead and say it now, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is the versus game you’ve been waiting for. Boasting to be more than just an expansion to the game, UMvC3 features 12 new characters (6 from Marvel and the other 6 from Capcom) and sees the return of all original 36 characters along with DLC characters Jill Valentine and Shuma Gorath. Continuing with the benchmark fast paced action and gorgeous graphics of its predecessor, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is more than just another pretty face, it’s a refinement of the original game.

Capcom took a serious chance releasing this title and it pays off for them in spades. The game plays more seamlessly than last time featuring textbook combos that are a little more accessible (and even cheesier), smoother character animations and more outstanding effects and sounds. Gameplay has been completely rebalanced for UMvC3 and, while some battles are still completely lopsided, it doesn’t feel as crippling as was the case with the first game. The X-Factor mode has been toned down significantly. Unlike the last game where X-Factor furnished players with insane comebacks and outrageous acts of overkill no longer seems like the ultimate desperation move making victories seem a lot less cheap than before.

To say that Capcom simply tweaked MvC3 would be an injustice. Capcom fixed more than a few of MvC3‘s flaws and actually injected some real fun into the game (thanks to the inclusion of characters such as Phoenix Wright, Rocket Raccoon and Nova).

As with previous games in the series, players pick out three fighters each with their own unique assist types and set to work beating the competition senseless. With 48 characters to select from (50 if you include Jill and Shuma), the fighting game insanity that the series is known for is just as frantic as before and character interaction (read: smack-talking) is just as hilarious as ever. Galactus returns once again as the final boss and this time, he does more than just stand there and take it. Galactus actually fights back this time so don’t expect a pushover. To add some more of the proverbial ‘icing on the cake’, players can actually fill the shoes of the planet destroying nightmare in Galactus mode and unleash some sheer mayhem.

Traditionalists of the Versus series can say welcome back to Strider Hiryu (one of many characters sorely missed in MvC3) who continues to be a master of fluid special attacks and lightning strikes. Phoenix Wright matches the likes of Deadpool in the category of pure comedy and the cheeky Rocket Raccoon (he’s from Marvel, not Capcom) is a pretty serious contender to say the least.

In a world of flashy graphics and gimmicky characters, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 keeps the style going and doesn’t take any shame in doing so. The backgrounds and versus stages are just as beautiful and the soundtrack is just as playfully hokey as ever. The character selection screen better distinguishes the Capcom roster from the Marvel roster (which was a slight annoyance in MvC3) and everything comes together in another visual fest surely meant to induce epileptic seizures. The menu systems have also been reworked to fit in even more with the quirky comic book stylings establish by the previous game. The only disappointment with the presentation of the game is that the new stages are actually just alternate versions of the original stages and not new stages entirely built from the ground up.

While it is true that the new characters could have been added as a downloadable pack (or a few downloadable packs) for owners of Marvel vs. Capcom 3, you could have spent forty dollars on something a lot worse… New modes such as the Heroes and Heralds Mode and the Spectator Mode helps to round out the new features of the game. Heroes and Heralds Mode is a new single-player and multiplayer team-based mode where players earn new abilities with upgrade cards. You can customize characters with new powers, and compete in groups as either the Heroes defending Earth or as one of Galactus’ Heralds. Spectator Mode is just like it sounds allowing you to watch two online players competing against each other.

Let it be known now that even with the inclusion of the two new modes, UMvC3 is pretty light on new content which will probably bring up a brand new slew of complaints from the fighting community. A lot of fans will say not enough fan service was delivered (where is Mega Man?), but for what is packaged in UMvC3, you’ll be hard pressed to be disappointed.

The bottom line is that if you’ve already played the original MvC3 or waited for this (because you knew Capcom was going to pull this particular rabbit out of its hat…), you can’t go wrong picking this up and adding it to the collection.

Capcom Japan released a promo trailer for the upcoming Devil May Cry HD Collection coning next year to PS3 and 360 and now we have the US trailer for you to take a gander at. The video is pretty simple — just a cut and dry announcement for the PS2 era Devil May Cry games containing clips from the various cut scenes from all three games.

Capcom has issued a release date for upcoming CyberConnect2′s Asura’s Wrath alongside their earlier RE: Operation Raccoon City announcment.

The action title has been given a North American release date of February 21, 2012 and sees players stepping into the shoes of Asura, a once revered deity betrayed by his fellow gods and stripped of all his powers. Consumed by anger at the injustice he suffered (framed him for his wife’s murder), Asura swears to seek vengeance and save his daughter Mithra from the Seven Guardian Generals, who are usurping her powers.

Asura discovers he can use this fury to his advantage and turn it against his enemies. Players will guide him through a ‘player-controlled narrative’ in this coming fantastic adventure that’s beautifully illustrated with bright colors and vivid animation effects.

Asura’s Wrath will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3.

Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has received a go-date for March 20 in the States. Being developed by Slant Six Games (SOCOM: Confrontation), players take on the role of an Umbrella Security Service soldier trying to wipe out implicating evidence of zombies and bio-organic weapons from the Resident Evil series and also having the unique opportunity to take out rookie Raccoon City police officer, Leon Kennedy, in this third-person, team-based shooter.

A Special Edition of Resident Evil: Operation Raccoon City has been announced and will feature a copy of the game, a Steelbook with exclusive art, stylized foil sleeve, Umbrella Security Service embroidered patch, Spec Ops Field Unit embroidered patch, and all eight bonus weapons. Pre-orders of the PS3 or Xbox 360 version through GameStop, Amazon, or Best Buy will receive one additional costume for each of the six playable characters, along with two bonus weapons unique to each retailer.

A PC version has been announced, but currently a date for that hasn’t been announced.

If there’s one thing the ESRB is good for doing, it’s letting us know when games are coming soon (whether or not the publishers wanted to announce them or not). That being said, another PlayStation One classic is on the way with Darkstalkers: The Night Warrior receiving a rating from the board.

As being considered one of Capcom’s greatest fighting games series, the Darkstalkers series spawned 3 games and a handful of different console ports/iterations. Darkstalkers: The Night Warrior represents the PS One port of Darkstalkers – The Night Warriors (or Vampire – The Night Warriors in Japan) and introduced the world to great characters such as Demitri Maximoff, Jon Talbain, Morrigan Aensland, Anakaris and Felicia. The game has been issued a “T” certificate and will be expected to appear on the North American PlayStation Store (though no date has been confirmed yet). Darkstalkers: The Night Warrior was originally released on PSOne in 1996.
