If you’re one of the people who had a gripe with the number of players in Street Fighter IV, you may just get a kick out of this. Starting on August 19 (the first day of GamesCom in Cologne, Germany), Xbox 360 action fans will be able to download the co-op demo for Lost Planet 2 that Capcom has been showing at events such as E3, Comic-Con and GamesCom. Live Gold members will have first crack at the demo on August 19, while Silver level members will be able to take part on August 26.

This desire to be one of the first to experience Monster Hunter Tri is indicative of the impact the Monster Hunter franchise has made on videogame culture in Japan. With sales of the series totaling well over 10 million units and 3.5 million sales of Monster Hunter Portable™ 2ndG alone, it’s no surprise to find that Monster Hunter has given rise to dedicated “training camps”, country-wide festivals and numerous licensed products. The franchise doesn’t just top the charts in Japan; it’s become a social phenomenon.

Versus allows up to four players to compete in online battles across two game types. Slayer?s Rule is a point-based game that challenges players to kill Majinis, while in Survivor?s Rule, players hunt each other.

Versus mode will be available for 400 points on Xbox Live and $4.99 on PlayStation Network.

Whether that something is as simple as a ‘wiimake’, i.e., a re-release of the original game outfitted with Wii controls, or something more substantial, is totally up in the air.

While fans have been begging Capcom to remake the classic Resident Evil games with the Resident Evil 4 engine, the more likely call (and honestly preferable in our mind) is a Gamecube-style Resident Evil 1/Resident Evil Zero pre-rendered update downloadable via PSN and? Xbox Live.

Again, this is all wishful thinking and speculation.? Here’s the curious post to decipher as you will.? Again, could be bullshot…but we’d put money down that Capcom’s up to something.

During a Q&A segment at the Resident Evil 5 Wondercon panel, Capcom was asked by an enthusiastic fan about a possible Resident Evil 2 remake. Mike Webster of Capcom decided to respond to the answer. He said, “Stay tuned, we absolutely understands that these are classic games,” and added, “Some announcements, that you will be very interested in [are on the way].”

While it’s not shocking that a sequel to the first game is being made, considering the firm will be making a Lost Planet film, having the reveal made public via digital distribution is a change of pace. We’ll have more details tomorrow when Capcom goes official with the announcement.
