Street Fighter Movie Cast Announced

Posted by: Howard Brown on March 19, 2008 at 4:05 pm

Capcom has revealed the first five members of the cast for the upcoming Street Fighter live-action movie. Topping the list and playing the lead role of everyone’s favorite videogame brawling vixen, Chun-Li, is Kristen Kreuk (Lana Lang of Smallville). Balrog will be played by the big man himself, Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Sin City, Daredevil). M. Bison will be played by Neal McDonough (The Hitcher, Minority Report, The Guardian). Guile’s partner in crime, Charlie Nash will be portrayed by Chris Klein (American Pie). Perhaps the biggest surprise in the announcement was that Vega will be played by none other than Taboo of the Black Eyed Peas. He certainly has the height and stature, but can the man act? We’ll just have to see.

The film will be distributed by 20th Century Fox and is currently scheduled for a 2009 worldwide release.

You’d think it’d be hard to imagine this being worse than the ‘94 film, but Van Damme-it of they’re not off to a bad start!! One, I can’t stand Kristen Kruek, two, there’s no scene of Ken and Ryu, as it seems they’ll NEVER get the spotlight in a live-action film as they should, and three Taboo as Vega?!?!? Maybe being adapt at breakdancing will help in the fight choreography but, isn’t Vega supposed to be, uh. . . .pretty? At least a happy medium between handsome and pretty? Not to mention, Taboo’s boney ass is gonna have to pack on some serious muscle.

I mean yeesh, how long before Apl.D.ap gets horribly miscast in a film?

Sadly it is for real. Capcom is all about milking this 20th Anniversary of Street Fighter.

As you know who would say, ‘Believe it!’

“Balrog will be played by the big man himself, Michael Clarke Duncan (The Green Mile, Sin City, Daredevil).”

Well, at least there’s one bright spot in this mess. Is it too much to hope that he’ll tear off his shirt and yell “I got paid!” at some point..?

worst decision ever. the movie will flop harder then gay porn of bert and ernie from sesame street. the original live action has forever killed the genre. the original SF2 anime movie was good. the first SFA movie was rediculous with the mad scientist at the end. the second sfa movie wasn’t bad but it was lacking in story.

bottom line, whoever is funding this movie should just use the dollar bills to line cat litter boxes instead. it’ll be put to much better use.
