Spike Cancels Blade: The Series

According to co-star Jill Wagner and producer Geoff Johns, Spike TV has decided to pass on a second season of Blade: The Series. Despite a drop in ratings after the pilot, the show had seen marked improvement over its 11-week run, with cast member Neil Jackson publicly frustrated over Spike TV’s procrastination in making a decision regarding the its future, as well as their disappointment in the fact that it appeared more females were watching the show than males. This is supposed to be a network for men, is it not?

Admittedly, I had no faith in this series being any good. The casting of former rapper Sticky Fingaz as Blade certainly didn’t help. But the pilot was intriguing enough to get me watching the following week, and I found myself hooked. The storylines were well-written, and the action and gore greatly improved over the course of the series. And while he came off somewhat stiff in early episodes, the latter half of the season showed Sticky truly come into his own, breathing life into the character that had been lacking in the film franchise’s third and final outing.

why do all the good shows get cancled. im a big fan of Kirk Jones aka. Sticky Fingaz aka. Blade at first i thought the show would be stupid but i watched the 1st episode just 2 support Sticky and after that i was hooked. The action was on point. Sticky just cant catch a break. He was on another good show in’05 on FX called Over There and that show got canned. i hope another network picks it up.

Blade was a MAN’S SHOW on a MAN’S NETWORK! Only a friggin sissy-fied punk would not enjoy a show with hot women and excessive violence! Do people really watch TV to appreciate acting ability? “Acting” (in regards to network tv) is how networks rob the masses…people can watch “Lost” and be completely mesmorized at a bunch of old timers running through the jungle from a puff of smoke, but Blade gets cancelled? uuggghhh… why’s america so gay now?

I loved the Series, I was doubtful it was any good at first. I was hooked after the first episode. I’m really disapointed spike decided to cancel. How sad :(
