You may have heard that there’s a new Spider-Man movie coming out this Friday. Well, here in New York it’s Spider-Man Week, with all kinds of Spider-Man-related activities and stuff. This Sunday, the Apollo Theater in Harlem will host a mini-rap concert where ol’ Web-Head will be the theme. Taken from the Apollo website:
It’s Spidey-Showtime at The Apollo when we host the Spider-Man Week in NYC closing-night celebration here on May 6th by showcasing original raps about Spider-Man and his adventures from the following rhyme-spinners:
The Bronx’ Collective Flow (Male Rap Duo)
Brooklyn’s Ace Peyso (Male Rapper)
Long Island’s Sharky Conway (Male Rapper)
Manhattan/Harlem’s Loot (Male Rapper)
Queens/Jamaica’s Hannibal (Male Rapper)
Staten Island’s Phynix (Female Rapper)
Plus dancers with moves agile enough to rival the Wall-Crawler himself:
Brooklyn’s Bed- Stuy Vets (Amateur Night Winning Duo)
Queens’ Kenichi Ebina (Showtime at the Apollo Winner)
This event is hosted by Apollo Amateur Night co-host, comedian and radio personality Talent, and features dancers and additional performances, including one by special guest artist, Queen’s Sony/G.O.O.D. Music label artist Consequence!
So swing Uptown and root for your preferred performer as s/he competes lyrically to win the approval of the Apollo Theater audience…and a new Sony Bravia TV!
This event is free and open to the public but you must request a ticket by e-mailing: ApolloThatsARap@yahoo.com Seating is general admission and seats are limited and not guaranteed to be available. Theater doors open at 3:00 p.m.; Showtime: 4:00 p.m. For more Spider-Man Week in NYC info, visit Spider-ManWeekNYC.com
