Shifts For Supernatural

The Winchesters take one more ride starting Sept. 24 as Supernatural returns for a sixth season. The conflict between Heaven vs. Hell is over (or is it?). The brothers are separated once again. There’s already more than a handful of questions out in the open. The major question now is, “What’s changed?”
The CW announced recently that the show won’t be returning to air Thursday nights. Following suit with Smallville, Supernatural moves to 9 p.m. Friday nights. Series creator Eric Kripke will be stepping down as show frontrunner and handing the reigns over to Sera Gamble. Kripke promises that he’s not done with the show with prospects of writing and even directing an episode or two, but with the major storyline of Supernatural finished, Kripke can now pass the heavy lifting off to someone just as capable and committed to the story and the fans. This, by far, spells the biggest of the changes happening for the show.
A recent interview with Kripke also revealed assurances that’ll get everyone’s attention. Two-times born-again Angel Castiel will be back for season 6 as well as fan-favorite and extremely comical Crossroads Demon Crowley (played by Battlestar Galactica and Firefly alum Mark Sheppard). The writers also plan to shed light onto more of the Winchester’s past when Mitch Pileggi (The X-Files, Stargate: Atlantis) returns as granddad Samuel Campbell. The Campbells play a bigger part in the storyline since they were the actual origins of the Winchesters hunter past — going as far back as the Pilgrims and the Mayflower.
Origins for the Winchesters isn’t all that’s going to be explored during season 6. A lot of lore from the Supernatural universe is set to be uncovered. Vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters… How did they all come about in the first place? As the show’s final season hits this fall, questions will be answered while quite possibly a few more get asked.

If you had the read the EW interview with Eric Kripke carefully you might have noticed that in not one word it is mentioned that season 6 is THE FINAL SEASON. That’s crap! Unless you got some special info (source please), this is just wrong, since Sera Gamble and Eric Kripke always talk about a NEW BEGINNING and a NEW chapter when they refer to season 6.

final? no way! I’m w/cassi, they never said anything about being the final 1. nd Jensen in Barcelona was already talking about a 7th. This series is just amazing =)

No word has been said that this is the final season. The above posters are correct. Jensen mentioned that this may not be it, Jared has made comments that are similar, and the original article regarding Kripke, made absolutely no mention of this being the final season. if you have a source quote it, but otherwise….:)

i’m with André!! Jensen said in Barcelona’s Con (I was there too!) that there will be maybe 7th season… I hope so!! It depends on the audience. It’s always about the money!!

Yeah, like everybody said — season six is not being planned or billed as ‘the last season’ of Supernatural. Its a new chapter in the story.
Perhaps the author is confusing it with Smallville. They have announced that Season 10 of SV is the last.
