I’ve barely been a casual gamer since Sony first stormed the scene in the mid-90s, but I’ve always had a somewhat irrational disdain for their Playstation, often equating it to Budweiser, and its lemming-like fans to those who, thanks to a marketing budget that rivals the GDP of more than half of the countries of the world combined, believe that pisswater beer is actually the “King of Beers”. So I’ve been watching gleefully from the sidelines as the PS3 has turned out to be a relative dud for them while the Wii and Xbox 360 have surpassed it on the sales charts, and this mock video set to The Fray’s “How to Save a Life” is right up my alley.
Just when I was fuckin’ tired of hearing that damn Fray song (and seeing the four different videos for it), this parody comes along and completely makes my day! Bravo, Mr. Gonzalez!!

Killzone kicks Halo’s ass any day of the week. The only reason Wii has sold more consoles than PS3 is because it’s cheaper, but just because it’s more cost-efficient doesn’t make it better, which it certainly isn’t. Quality over quantity.
It’s not just a simple matter of Wii being the cheaper console. It’s definitely a big factor, though. 600 dollars is a ridiculous gap between however much it cost for a PS2 when it first came out, and now. Especially when good games are still being made for the PS2, which now retails for around $130.00.
There’s also the fact that there’s not much in the way of extras. Blu-Ray is gonna be the Laserdisc of our generation, so the built-in player isn’t grapping anyone. Beyond that, the console has far less to offer when compared to the XBOX 360.
Furthermore, Nintendo has always been a company that’s focused on gameplay over graphics. The prettiest looking game in the world doesn’t mean shit if the gameplay sucks. This is why the Mario franchise is so successful, the games are ridiculously fun to play. Some people just don’t have the patience for the big, overblown action games that try to make everything as realistic as possible. And a lot of games are so bloated with cutscenes and other stuff, you might as well be watching a movie. Some people just want to play the damn game. And that’s what Nintendo offers.

What exactly does this XBOX360 have to offer over the PS3, really? It has more games (the majority mediocre) and an online service where you can pay to listen to moron infants shout obscenities at each other.
I own both of these arch-rival appliances and since I’ve laid three (count ‘em three) 360s to rest and…well, zero PS3 I’ve still got faith in evil asian corporation Sony.
Later this year they’ll bring the price down, Blu-ray will establish itself as the new format and games like Uncharted, MGS4 and whatever else will be released…oh yeah, and people will realize how silly they really look when play Wii and that will be the end of that fad and the Golden Age of Reason will start.
What can I say…I always root for the underdog.

There is more to the Wii’s market success than just it’s low price. A large contributing factor is the demographic Nintendo has always gone for & that is children & the casual gamer. Parents & casual gamers will generally purchase this console over the others. For those who require more from their gaming experience but are unwilling to go the PC route, the Wii will come off gimicky and for the rest of us, quality over quantity.

It would seem the majority of people prefer a large number of mediocre titles & would also rather pay for their online gaming so that they can “listen to moron infants shout obscenities at each other”. This lemming-like attitude of “all my friends are on LIVE so i should be too.” is fascinating, here i thought everyone had grown up & moved past peer-pressure. I believe that unlike the Wii, the 360 is marketed not just to children or casual gamers but to a more general market. It appears that for most people a device like the PS3 would turn into more of an expensive paper-weight as opposed to the revolutionary piece of hardware that it is.

The video says it all, “Microsoft reaches for the moon, SONY reaches for the Sun . .. ”
WARNING! The PS3 is (obviously) not for everyone & you should NOT purchase one if you are at all interested in:
-Free online gameplay
-BluRay technology *
-Flash memory slots **
-SixAxis/Dualshock control (better than the Wii-mote anyone . . . ?)
-No region coding
-UPnP media server
-Wireless play with 7 people
-7 CPUs
-Distributed computing
-Ability to easily install multiple 3rd party operating systems
-I’ve lost you haven’t I . . . ?
*Remember, DL media holds 50GB vs 30GB for HD-DVD. Film has infinite resolution therefore new transfers that have more space to be compressed into . . . well, you do the math. Also, when blank media is reasonably priced you will have that much more space to store your data.
**Anyone who owns a has a cellphone digital still/video camera, etc. has use for these.
Many people are going to have little or no use for these things but for those who have looked beyond having a “console” & want something that can be used for so much more, do some research & find out what is best for your needs.
