PS3 Finally Gets That Price Cut
Posted by: Howard Brown on July 9, 2007 at 9:50 am
SCEA today announced a couple changes to it’s PlayStation 3 product lineup. Starting in August, gamers will be able to purchase a PS3 with an expanded 80GB hard disk drive. This system will come bundled with Motostorm and feature a retail price of $599.
As for the short term, SCEA has announced that effective immediately the suggested retail price on the 60GB PS3 has been lowered to $499. It looks like those leaked Circuit City ads and other speculation was correct after all.

Yea, I think they’re finally starting to get competitive this gen.
I’ve not been interested in the PS3 for a long time, so to see this move come along with a handful of exclusives this year is definitely a good thing for the competition.
It’s good to be a gamer. ^_^
Also, how’ve you been Howard? Last time we spoke was the Superman Event!

Sup Djuan, it’s been awhile.
I think it’s going to take more than a price drop for them to get competitive. The third party exclusives this year are almost non-existant and the first party titles on the horizon only include a couple stand-outs.
