I saw this movie a few years ago as part of the Phila.(PA) film festival. It was a very good sports movie which focused on the interactions and emotions of the young people who were involved with this exciting olympic sport.

I'm with you, Tally--I love seeing stuff on the big screen, so I think I'll just hold out until April.

Haven't read anything by Matsumoto, so I'll have to add that to my to-do list, James!

I haven't seen this yet, but I highly recommend the manga, "Ping Pong," as well as "Black and White" (I think that was the English translation), the latter of which was recently made into the animated film "Tekkon Kinkurito" (http://www.tekkon.net). In fact, pretty much anything by Taiyo Matsumoto is worth checking out, now that I think about it.

If you don't want to wait you can probably buy it at like Virgin or other video stores that carries foreign films. I do recommend watching in the theaters though. Nothing beats the experience of a ping pong tourney on the silver screen!

I'm disappointed I missed the press screening! I guess I'll just have to visit the Imaginasian Theater and see it in April...

I saw this when it first came out in Japan back in 2002. I highly recommend Ping Pong. The soundtrack is very upbeat and techno sounding, but the cinematography is awesome.
