BOOK OF THE MONTH:
George RR Martin’s Wild Cards: The Hard Call #1 (of 6) (Dabel Brothers Productions)

I am a huge GRRM fan. If you’re not reading the “Song of Ice and Fire” series of novels, you’re missing one of the greatest fantasy series ever written. Among Martin’s many other projects was a series of novels he edited called Wild Cards, which was in a Rising Stars/Heroes kind of vein, and this new mini-series from Dabel Brothers is based on those books, featuring art by Eric Battle.

Also notable:
Justice League of America: The Injustice League HC (DC). Dwayne McDuffie’s first story arc gets collected in a hardcover.
Water Baby GN (DC/Minx). A graphic novel about a surfer girl dealing with sharks and ex-boyfriends from hell. Creator Ross Campbell also does the GN series Wet Moon, which is offered again this month.
The Envoy #1 (Moonstone). Novelist Gary Phillips returns to comics with a book that’s part of a series of titles where the audience decides the ending.
Gunplay GN (Platinum). The complete graphic novel, with backup prose stories by Christopher Priest.
