The latest installment in the Predator movie franchise hits home theaters Oct. 19. Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment made the announcement that the movie which is produced by Robert Rodriguez (From Dusk Til Dawn, Grindhouse) and directed by Nimród Antal (Vacancy, Armored) will be releasing on both DVD and two-disc Blu-ray edition with a digital copy.
The reboot, which pays homage to the original Predator film and stars more than it’s fair share of A-list actors including Adrien Brody (King Kong), Topher Grace (Valentine’s Day, Spider-Man 3), Alice Braga (Repo Men, I Am Legend), Danny Trejo (Machete) and Laurence Fishburne (C.S.I., The Matrix). The movie follows a group of elite killers who find themselves stranded on an alien world which serves as a game reserve for a pack of fearsome stealth hunters.
Some of the special features for the Blu-ray edition include commentary from both the Director and Producer, Motion Comics, Deleted and Extended Scenes, and an Evolution of The Species featurette. The motion comics will reveal backstory on the Predators and is presented by Robert Rodriguez.
A little trivia: The original trailer from Predators which showed a shot where Brody’s character gets targeted by numerous Predator laser sights but was nowhere to be found in the film is explained by Rodriguez as a shot done particularly for marketing purposes – he needed a shot that would “crystallize the idea” of the humans being stalked by the predators. The producer admitted, “A lot of my movies have trailer shots that I shoot just for the trailer, so that people haven’t seen the movie already but they get the feeling of what it’s supposed to represent.”
