It’s been scarcely a month since the Fall TV Season kicked off and shows are already hitting the chopping block. NBC announced that the rather controversial show The Playboy Club has been cancelled after airing only 3 episodes. The Playboy Club is the second show NBC has pulled this season (failed comedy Free Agents was the first to get the axe) with low viewership as the reason for the cancellation.

The cast and crew of The Playboy Club including Eddie Cibrian, Sean Maher and Amber Heard have already taken to Twitter to share their disappointment about the cancellation and their appreciation for the viewer support they’ve received. Playboy Mogul Hugh Hefner tweeted ”I’m sorry NBC’s ‘The Playboy Club’ didn’t find it’s audience. It should have been on cable, aimed at a more adult audience.”

From its original announcement, the Mad Men-esque show came under fire for apparent sexism (a 60′s television show, sexist?) dealing with the hot-button topic of the rise of the Playboy era. Will you miss the show now that it’s gone?
