I knew it would be underwhelming. Say what you want about The Ultimates, but under Hitch and Millar it hit the mark. Ultimates 3 got my money this time, but that was the last time. I’m sitting this one out. I’ll check back for the inevitable graphic novel-type compilation. Maybe.

Nice guy, but cannot take the feminine men and small waits anymore.

ULTIMATES 3 was disturbing, and I HATE the incest thing thats going on. MILLAR had them written off as ’strange’ and that was it. LOEB has seen fit FOR SHOCK VALUE to make them outright ICKY!!!

I am gonna probably keep up until issue 3 and thsi book will probably go where my ULTIMATE XMEN went when they dragged COLOSSUS out of the closet.

You don’t “get” Joe Mad? What’s to get? Badly done westernized manga for the prepubescent suburban set. He’s been pulling off this shit since the early ’90s. Back then it was less giant eyes/beasts/muscles and even then it was pure…well, shit.

Please send Joe Mad to the same place where they should have sent Michael Turner ages ago.

Also, in an alternate dimension where there’s justice in the world, someone is reading an issue Ultimates 3 issue 1 as done by Warren Ellis and Ryan Sook or Peter David and Steve McNiven right now. I wish I lived there.

Ultimates 3.1 reminded me nothing so much as that screaming abortion that was Avengers Vol. 2. A mess on all levels, unnecessary and a slap in the face of the near brilliance that came before it. Page by page I was like, “This book is really just sucking the life out of me.” Why did I feel so drained after finished it? Maybe because I was trying to regurgitate the $ spent on this…whatever it was.

i didn’t get the chance to read it yet, but if hawkeye’s a “jerk,” they’re writing original hawkeye, not even ultimate hawkeye.

when will the time come that marvel’s forced to admit the ultimate line is useless? when every title is objectively worse than the original one (with the notable, actually debatable exception of spidey), what’s the point? it doesn’t get more “comics about comics” than the ultimate line.

There’s just no point to Ultimates 3. This is probably the most blissfully stupid book I’ve read all year. And for the record. . . I LOVED them as shallow and vicious Blackwater operatives!!
