“There’s still a lack of diversity in mainstream comics. I feel like there’s an interest and need to show these voices. The market dictates what comics are out there. And traditionally, comics about women and black people or minorities in general don’t sell well… [b]ut the underground market has always had really interesting characters and I felt like if those particular stories were seen by more people, then they would do a lot better.”

Damian Duffy and John Jennings‘ Other Heroes black comics exhibit at Jackson State University is off to a strong start, from the sound of it. If you’re outside the Jackson, Mississippi area, you can still show support for the exhibit by picking up the official catalog.
