No, not James Cameron’s Avatar (the one with Zoe Saldana), but M. Night Shyamalan’s adaptation of the animated series of the same name, which is listed on IMDB as The Last Airbender. This show is heavily steeped in Asian culture, but it looks like the lead characters will be played by whites. If so, then this is wrong on many levels. Noted comics artist Derek Kirk Kim has written about it on his blog and is organizing a petition against producing studio Paramount. I’ve never seen the Avatar series, but if it’s half as good as Kim makes it out to be, then this has the potential to be a major pooch-screwing.
