To help out those of you that cannot wait for the February 22nd release of the PlayStation Vita in North America, Play-Asia has you covered.

Today the online import gaming retailer dropped the price of the Vita to a more attractive price of $399 (roughly $100 more than the planned US retail price), bringing it down dramatically from the original $529 import price when the system first launched in Japan. This is probably the sweet spot for importers out there who still wish to purchase a Vita and get it early.

It’s probably a safe bet that with the North American and European releases coming fast, we’ll probably see another price drop on the import system soon.

The merry-go-round has started spinning even faster about Diablo III and plans for a console release. After a tweet from Blizzard community manager Micah Whiple appeared suggesting that the studio has officially confirmed that Diablo III to consoles news went up quickly that the word was given. According to Blizzard, that isn’ so.

A Blizzard spokesperson clarified that Bashiok’s tweet was only “intended as a confirmation that [Blizzard] is actively exploring the possibility of developing a console version of Diablo III,” adding, “This is not a confirmation that Diablo III is coming to any console platform. Our focus right now is on finishing the PC/Mac version of Diablo III and making sure it’s a worthwhile successor to the series.”

Rumors had been piling up for months which led to the possibility for a console release starting with a Gamescom 2011 conversation from Josh Mosqueira about it being a serious possibility. Later, game director Jay Wilson revealed that the team was tinkering with a “360-like” controller and that, “One of the reasons why we’re exploring the idea of a console version of Diablo III because we feel that the controls and the style of the game lend itself to a console.” Add in Blizzard’s console-related job postings and it was inevitable that the tweet would send everyone spiraling towards a console confirmation for Diablo III.

With all of the clues indicating that Blizzard is working on a console version of Diablo III, the majority vote is swinging towards a yes that the game is coming.

Rumors and speculation have been coming out for a while now that Sony will be showing up to the E3 2012 party with a shiny new PS4 in hand thanks to videogame website MCV publishing a rumor story that E3 2012 was the magical time.

Today at CES the rumor was put to bed when Sony’s Kaz Hirai answered a question about the PlayStation 4 showing up at this year’s E3. ”Andy [House] is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3. I’ve always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that.”

The question now is: do you believe this is true?

First and foremost, even before she started toolin’ around fashion shows with Kanye, I wanted to be in the Amber Rose business. She had her little bit of spotlight in that Ludacris “What Them Girls Like” video, and I was like, “YES, PLEASE!!!”

Ninja Theory’s Tameem Antoniades recently revealed in an interview about the reception that’s been received behind their upcoming reboot of Capcom’s Devil May Cry series.

Following the game’s announcement in September 2010, there’s been a slew of outcry behind the new project with the 2 major factors being that the game is being handled by a non-Japanese developer and that the main hero (Dante) looks nothing like he has in the previous 4 games. Series creator Hideki Kamiya himself had also expressed disappointment over the new look after Capcom and Ninja Theory made the reveal.

DmC: Devil May Cry, the official title of the game, showcases series protagonist Dante as a Westerner and sees him battling his way across the possessed city of Limbo. Being set in a parallel universe in the Devil May Cry universe, the city appears calm at first, but transforms into a twisted parody of itself rife with demons who frequently attempt to kill Dante. Dante finds himself not only fighting blood thirsty demons but also the ever-changing environment of the city as well.

In an interview with OXM, Antoniades explained some of what he had to expect after the unveiling. ”[Enslaved writer] Alex Garland warned me about it because he experienced a similar thing with 28 Days Later where people were upset that it didn’t feature real zombies.

“So I was half prepared for it, although I have to say that it has been pretty eye opening to see some of the creative ways in which people have chosen to vent their hatred. We didn’t expect death threats in comic book form or anti-DmC death metal songs!”

With the uphill battle that Ninja Theory has had to face since getting the go ahead to create the reboot, the developer intends to stay true to the original formula that is Devil May Cry — the stylish combat. “There is of course an expectation from the fans, which is something that has always been firmly in the minds of both ourselves and Capcom,” Antoniades explained. “The Devil May Cry franchise is well established and much loved, so we want to keep the essence of what makes the series unique.

“Combat is something that we are taking very seriously and is one of the areas that we’re working closely with Capcom on.”

Capcom recently came forward on the matter of fan reception when Christian Stevenson, the Corporate Officer and Senior Vice-President of Capcom, recently posted a short comment regarding the situation. ”Death threats have no place in civilized society. Period.

Ninja Theory’s Alex Jones feels the outrage will die down as more gameplay footage and impressions enter circulation. “It’s pretty hard for me to back the decisions we made without showing actual gameplay to the public. So until that time comes, and it will come soon, I just have to put up with the rage.

“Though I must say, lots of people have come and said that they are now interested in DmC whereas they had previously lost interest in the series. We’ll see how this plays out.”

Thanks OXM.

homefront-header

Homefront is most likely one of the most underrated shooters from last year. THQ is going to give it one more shot with the masses before the official work on the next Crytek-developed sequel begins.

Homefront: Ultimate Edition is expected to hit shelves before the end of the current financial year, but after announcing the title no additional details were given. Most likely, it’ll be virtually a GOTY edition for Homefront and will include the multiplayer DLC The Rock and Fire Sale as well as the full game.

Currently, the sequel for Homefront is in development for FY2014.
