In their latest newsletter, the good folks at Go! Comi announced two new series would be hitting store shelves soon: A Wise Man Sleeps, a new title from the creator of Her Majesty’s Dog, and Cy-Believers, a new title from the creator of Crossroad. Read on for details!
Go! Comi is proud to announce two brand new series! A Wise Man Sleeps by Mick Takeuchi (That’s right—the author of Her Majesty’s Dog!) is the story of Miharu, who isn’t having a very good year. Her mother has died, leaving her only a single ring to remember her by, and her father’s gone bankrupt—leaving her with all of his debts! Don’t miss out on this awesome tale of comedy, horror and suspense!
And from the author of Crossroad, Shioko Mizuki, we’re pleased to bring you Cy-Believers! Rui has just transferred to a new school, and has the perfect plan to make friends—after-school clubs! Unfortunately, they’re not that easy to find. The clubs are being closed down one by one, and further investigation reveals the culprit to be Natori, a fellow student—and the guy Rui’s father just betrothed her to! Determined to thwart her controlling, selfish fiance, Rui starts a new club that won’t be so easy to shut down. Welcome to the Computer Believers!

Cy-Believers looks kind of interesting. I’m only just starting to look at Go! Comi books. I got the first volume of Her Majesty’s Dog (On your recommendation) and will read it when I’ve got some time (yeah right). Like I need more series’ to read though… ;)

Mick Takeguchi does a great job of folding horror and folklore elements into Her Majesty’s Dog, so I’m very curious about A Wise Man Never Sleeps.

Thanks for the correction, David–something about the title sounded likes an aphorism (i.e. “A wise man always/never does x”) and I added the extra word without realizing it. Either way, I’m looking forward to reading something else by Takeguchi.

We thought maybe it was a shortened version of the old saying, “A wise man sleeps with one eye open.” But Takeuchi-sensei told us she never heard that one before!
