news bits

The Diamond website doesn’t have this week’s releases up yet, so it’s just news for today.

My panel discussion at Newark’s Gallery Aferro on Saturday went well. The gallery is bigger than I expected, though the exhibits were spread out really far from each other. It felt like being in an artist’s loft. The panel was held in the back of the main floor, on a small stage. It was me, moderator and co-curator Noelle Williams, and a couple of local artists, co-curator Kevin Darmanie and Shakeila Williams. There were maybe a couple dozen people in the audience, but there was a lot of back and forth with them, which I liked a lot. I’ve been on too many panels where it’s just the guests talking and the audience passively listening. It was definitely worth the trip.

A few items of note: Eartha Kitt won the Annie for TV Voice Acting.

Meet director Sylvain White. He’s got a current film out now called Stomp the Yard. His next film? An adaptation of Frank Miller’s Ronin.

M. Torez has made a video to promote his Type Illy Comics set to the music of Justin Timberlake.
