Man, I love this series.
I would think this issue takes place after the (ugh) “Black September” event when the Infinity Gems ended up in the Ultraverse.

This is very recent. It occurs after the end of She-Hulk 1. And this one actually has me interested in the Infinity Gauntlet crossover for the first time ever.

I’ll buy this just for Namor’s tender embrace of Professor Xavier.
HOT~!!!

I originally thought this was supposed to be the story of the Illuminati during the Infinity Gauntlet event in 1991. Is it really taking place recently?

I’d also argue that this storyline took place shortly after the events of Infinity Gauntlet, since
a) Reed (and the rest of the FF) and one half of the entire population faded from existence istantly on Thanos’ command and
b) of those present, only Dr. Strange and Iron Man have been actually involved in the fight with Thanos.

Next issue is Secret Wars. Didn’t Secret wars happen before the Infinity gauntlet?

Hey, I guess I must have missed something somewhere but I thought that Adam Warlock had the soul gem? He had it in the She-Hulk story a few years back where She-Hulk boxes the guy with the power gem. How did Reed Richards get an Infinity gem from Adam Warlock? No way he would just give it up, especially to some dude from Earth…
Anyways, I’m really looking forward to this and I’m a huge, huge fan of Infinity Gauntlet and pretty much all related stories, like the Infinity Watch. I would also like to point out that Namor battled Thanos alongside Iron Man and Dr. Strange in Infinity Gauntlet. Remember Thanos slapped him and She-Hulk and a bunch of fur or mold or something starting growing on ‘em and suffocated ‘em. That was great…

Two things: First, I thought Adam Warlock had the Soul Gem? How did Reed Richards get an Infinity Gem from Adam Warlock?
Second, Namor also fought Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet with Iron Man and Dr. Strange. Remember, Thanos slapped him and fur starting growing on him and suffocated him. Classic…

at first i thought bendis was a better writer because of reed kind of like the claremont/byrne situation. now i’m convinced reed is just way better than bendis. I doubt a series like this will go in chronological order of the mu events timeline. if it is though i’m guessing the beyonder(very cool name) whose prescence has been confirmed, will have been involved in the current secret war in a self performed ego-stroke on bendis part. or maybe the original secret war will seg-way to a morer current event. the ending of this issue reminded me very much of the fellowship of the ring. the bit with the watcher was also very cool. i did not see it coming. the expressions on prof.x and richards face at the end is a perfect example of why cheungs a good artist.
