multicultural comics: Asian American Comic Con

I meant to post about this sooner but never did. Naturally, I think this is a fine idea, and it looks like they’ve got a whole lot planned, so if you’re in the New York metropolitan area this weekend, stop by this show and support these great comics creators.

I went and had a great time. The panels were fun and engaging (with discussions becoming surprisingly academic at times, especially for a comi show) and there was a great sense of community felt by everyone. There were non-Asian creators and attendees, for those wondering — Alitha Martinez was there with her Yume and Ever books, for example.

Anyway, awesome show. I hope they do it again next year. (And hopefully I will get my own blog post about this up soon too!)
