Monica R. in Marvel Divas

I’m too embarrassed to post the J. Scott Campbell cover, so here’s your link. Scroll down about halfway.

The good news: she’s going back to her codename Photon for this mini-series.

The bad news: she’s being thrown in with three other superheroines, apparently at random, in what looks like a Sex and the City ripoff. Not that this is a bad concept for a superhero mini, but couldn’t they have put with characters that make a little more sense, like She-Hulk or Wasp – oh wait, she’s dead, never mind (grrr).

However, this is being written by Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa – a gay man – so there’s a glimmer of hope that this will be written with a modicum of sensitivity and won’t just be a T&A-fest. I wrote a column about RAS once, and even saw one of his plays, so I’m familiar with him. I might end up tolerating this slightly more than Nextwave.
