GCA nominee Masheka Wood had his first collection of comic strips, Deep Doodle, at ECBACC. I acquired a copy and it is indeed every bit as good as expected. Masheka alternates between political and pop culture commentary, not unlike Keith Knight, who’s a pal of his. (Masheka and his fiancee, fellow cartoonist Mikhaela Reid, presented Keef with the Best Comic Strip Award at the GCAs, in fact.) So it’s very safe to say that if you like The K Chronicles, you’ll like Masheka’s book, so go pick it up. (And while you’re at it, check out Mikhaela’s collection as well, Attack of the 50-Foot Mikhaela. Both terrific stuff.)
