Marvel Studios Launches Writers Program

Nikki Finke’s Deadline Hollywood posts that Marvel Studios has recently developed a writing program to nurture new talent. While it has been impossible to find information on the program, Nikki’s sources indicate, “…Before the writers are even allowed to come in and meet, they must sign a non-disclosure agreement and a 70-page, non-negotiable contract. Among other things, the contract gives Marvel ownership over everything the writers create during the one year term of [the] deal, plus a first look and last refusal to any and all projects the writers have previously written or will write for 24 months in the future.”
Guaranteed work and training for the chosen few is the more positive perspective. Could this be Marvel’s answer to the Disney Writing Fellowship, or the WB Writer’s workshop? We’ll get more information as it develops…

I would like to be considered as a participent to your “Marvel Studios Lauches Writers Program.”
An example of my writing is a poem:
Long is the Journey
More than friends!
Have walked with me through sunsets
More Gods than ours have risen befor me
As the universe laughs with me in good humor
And I’m not afraid to confront my tears
And I’m not afraid to shy away from my pain
Deep is the cry!
Emotions triumph!
Long is the path,
taking me on this journey
of the root to the leaves
of the tree bark and the blossoms
As nature springs with truth
Earth, feeding my desires
and eager to please!
It’s all a fantisy of my disordered brain!
The leaves hear my sorror,
And the blossoms speak my truth!
We’re still trying to get information on how writers can apply to for the program. Marvel acknowledges that the announcement was made and that the program exists, but will not release any further information at this time regarding contact information, requirements, or submission window. Stay posted. We’ll let you know as we know.
