I am new to the comics. Or rather I haven’t really payed attention to them in a while. Are there any comics published by any of the major companies that include a black character as the protagonist?
From my limited knowledge, it appears as though those books don’t make it very long.
Someone I was reading on a forum the other day suggested that the new Captain America be black. I wonder how well that would go over with a such a strong established icon.

I think Marvel series Black Panther’s been going pretty solidly for a while (according to Wikipedia, since before the actual Black Panthers).

Yeah I found out about it after my post. I am looking to check out some copies. Anyone know if it is good? I here Priest’s run had some interesting political overtones.
I wonder what keeps Black Panther alive and not Blade.

OF COURSE it gets cancelled right after someone convincing me it’s good enough to pick up the first trade! So typical!! And it’s not like Goyer hasn’t been working in comics since Blade the movie came out! You hire Goyer for the comic, get Steve Skroce to do the art, and you’ve got a comic that wouldn’t be getting cancelled after less than a year!
