When do they squeeze in the Adult Continuing Education classes that other school districts have in the evenings after the kids leave the classrooms (really, I see course catalogs for those near most of the newspaper boxes)?

“She lives with her younger sister, Alex, a young witch (known as a Weirn) who refuses to attend the school due to a mysterious past incident.”

Aha, maybe the scheduling computer goofed and completely fubared her schedule by putting her in the How to Fix Your Car 101 class way down the hall with the grownups! I can understand a kid transferring out after something like that.

Just like is said here, you really feel frustrated you can’t keep on reading right away… on the other hand, isn’t Nightschool serialised in a Magazine by Yen Press? Right, it’s in Yen Plus magazine:

I still wish Svetlana had the time to keep up with her old web comics, of whom I bought the collected editions years ago, Night Silver and Chasing Rainbows (and got four laminated bookmarks with her artwork that she sent along because it had taken so long for her to send them^*gloats a bit*), but I guess it doesn’t make financial sense to stray away from much broader and surely much more well-paying work.

@Salimbol: I completely agree! This series has a lot of the charm of Dramacon, too, in terms of characterization and humor, but is definitely a step forward as well. The world-building, in particular, is mighty impressive. I hope you enjoy!

Hey there! Given your positive review of this and the fact that I did enjoy Dramacon rather a lot, this is one I’ll definitely hunt down. I think Chmakova is an artist to watch out for; there are some very sharp but good-humoured aspects to her work that I find appealing (that and the fact that she’s obviously a great big geek herself ).
