Though my biggest beef was with something else—the ridiculous angst backgrounds Gauche and Lag have—I essentially agree. I would’ve preferred it, too, had Gauche remained the protagonist and the story been more about him showing this weird world to his companion.

I had really similar reactions to this series. I enjoyed the overall premise but I don’t think it carries itself well enough or evolves to be something really outstanding. I couldn’t tell where it was going after the first few chapters
