@Leba - Thanks for the reply, Leba! I had genuinely wondered whether parents or teachers of autistic children would find this useful; I'm glad to know it's the case.

I actually gave volume 1 of With the Light to a friend of mine who teaches Special Ed, and has never (to my knowledge) read a manga before. She really enjoyed it. I purchased the book myself (after reading a library copy) because I work in Special Ed and the manga is filled with great tips on how to relate to autistic children. This really is a niche manga, because it probably sounds didactic and even preachy to those who are unfamiliar with autism, but I hope Yen Press continues to release the volumes to its completion!

@Connie - Agreed. Every now and then there's a moment in it that seems very, very cool and hints at some real potential, but then it just gets really confusing again. Maybe everything will make sense by the end of the series..?

Yeah, I would've probably given FreshMen itself a B-, but looking at the volume as a whole, those other stories brought it down.

I'm a bit sad that everything I hated about volume 1 of Croquis Pop seems to be sticking around as of volume 3. I like the premise of that series so much, but it was really hard to get through the first volume.

And it's a shame when stories unrelated to the title characters in a boy's love book wind up falling so far from the main stories. I'm always kind of bummed when that happens, especially if it's more than one story.
