There are all kinds of interesting titles on this week’s new release list! Here are a few of my personal picks.
My first pick is the second volume of CMX’s intriguing title, Astral Project. Kate enjoyed the first volume back in October, so it will be interesting to see if the series can continue to meld music and sci-fi successfully.
I’m also looking forward to Castle of Dreams, TOKYOPOP’s collection of short stories by Kare Kano creator Masami Tsuda. This hefty, 400-pg tome contains stories from two Tsuda collections released in the late ’90s and affords a comprehensive look at her shorter works.
The eleventh and final volume of Mick Takeuchi’s Her Majesty’s Dog (Go! Comi) is also on my list. This series has been reviewed a couple of times in the past at Manga Recon, and Takeuchi has been praised for her storytelling skills.
Lastly, I would be completely and utterly remiss if I did not mention the eighth volume of Dark Horse’s fan-favorite Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. Erin reviewed volume one back in 2007, and it was also cited as a favorite by Chloe, who describes it as “is a dark, violent and occasionally funny look at a bunch of college students whose primary customers are the dead.”
Sales are not the best on this title, so don’t delay in picking up your copy today. Fans will also be happy to hear that volume nine is on the horizon, with a release date scheduled in May.
Those are my picks from this week’s releases. Got a favorite I didn’t mention? Leave a comment, and share your personal picks with us!
