If you didn’t make it to New York Anime Fest this year, never fear–the intrepid Deb Aoki covered everything, from the licensing announcements to the industry panels to the outrageous costumes. Perhaps the most telling thing about this year’s convention is how few publishers actually attended. Aurora, CMX, DMP, Go! Comi, Tokyopop, and Viz were among the many no-shows, suggesting that many companies are choosing to focus their efforts on a handful of established conventions. That didn’t stop the cosplaying hordes from attending, but it does suggest that NY Anime Fest isn’t a big deal… yet.
