Though mini reviews are a staple of many manga blogs and websites (ours included), very few folks do them well. Dan Grendell, a contributor at Comic Pants, posts some of the best on the web, and does so at a site better known for its tights-and-capes coverage than its manga reviews. His monthly Manga Zubon column focuses primarily on new series, with an emphasis on the good stuff. He does a terrific job of reaching across the aisle to legions of superhero and alt-comic fans, and does so without condescension or cheesy comparisons. This month, he posts a Tezuka-centric column with mini-reviews of Astro Boy and Black Jack. Highly recommended!
