Lissa, yes, I totally agree! Everyone else's emotions really are what got to me.

I've gotten so hooked on shojo, it's crazy! :D

I really enjoyed the seventh volume of FY Genbu Kaiden as well, and agree that was a very emotional book. Amazing how though I didn't feel especially attached to said-volume's sacrificial character, the emotions other felt for them were more than enough to bring a tear to my eye!

Having not read any of the others book here, I'm reminded just how little shoujo I read these days. And it's a shame! I miss the genre (and the money to afford endulging in it ;) )

@lys - Thank you for the additional insight into the evolution of Magic Touch! I'll definitely be interested to see where it goes from this point. I didn't *love* it based on this first volume, but there was definitely enough to keep my interest looking toward the next volume, especially if the humor is maintained, which I agree is a real strong point!

Always love this column! (since it usually covers at least one, if not more, of the titles I read) In response to The Magic Touch, which might be my favourite new Shojo Beat title, I think the reason all the conflicts are solved so early on is because of how it was serialized: originally as the one-shot presented in the middle of this volume, then expanded into another three-chapter "sequel" focusing on Chiaki, and then finally turned into a full-length series. It was uneven in that sense, but I loved the humour, and I'm curious to see what's in store once the actual story gets its start.
