Link o’ the Day: Bargain Alert @ Manga Xanadu

By: Katherine Dacey

Lori Henderson recently posted a blog entry about BookCloseOuts.com, a website offering generous discounts on a variety of books, including manga. Lori has the details on their latest promotion, as well as some tips for finding the good stuff at this no-frills site. Here’s a sample of their current offerings:

• Agent BOO, Vol. 1: $2.49 (50% off)
• CLAMP no Kiseki, Vol. 10: $9.99 (over 50% off)
• Flowers and Bees, Vol. 3: $3.99 (over 50% off)
• Guru Guru Pon-Chan, Vol. 8: $3.99 (over 60% off)
• Kare Kano, Vol. 21: $3.99 (over 50% off)
• Magic Knight Rayearth, Vol. 1: $3.99 (over 50% off)
• Negima!, Vol. 3: $3.99 (over 60% off)
• Peach Girl, Vol. 1: $3.99 (over 50% off)
• Rave Master, Vol. 22: $3.99 (over 50% off)
• Tokyopop Assortment (80 books): $279.99 (over 65% off)
• Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles, Vol. 5: $3.99 (over 60% off)
• The Twelve Kingdoms, Vol. 2: $3.99 (over 50% off)

Their search engine doesn’t always yield helpful results, so I encourage you to use the links in Lori’s entry to get started. If you don’t reach their free shipping minimum ($35), use the Standard Shipping option to save money–you’ll pay a fraction of what other sites charge for the same Media Rate service. The only drawback: the books can take anywhere from three to fourteen business days to arrive, depending on where you are in relation to their warehouse. Not for instant gratification junkies!

I’ve found in the past that they also had a good amount of TOKYOPOP books there. I got all of Planetes through them and good chunks of Mars and Kindaichi Case Files, though it was some time ago.
