I was actually interested in the Kindle until I found out how much it cost. $350 for a device that lets you read a book seems kind of crazy to me. I can get a PS3 or an flat screen HD TV for that price.

Speaking of devices that could display manga or comics.. isn't there a way to modify the PSP to do that? I seem to recall hearing something about that waaay back when.

How common are ongoing webcomics that eschew the strip form? I can only think of Girl Genius and Freakangels off the top of my head.

Agreed all around. I have high hopes that readers who really care about their series will continue to buy the books. I know thats the case with me and my friends.

I'm glad you enjoyed the topic, Sara!

For me, the 48 hours expiration for Netcomics is a dealbreaker

This is pretty much the case for me too. I am happy to read Netcomics as a reviewer, but when I'm reading for pleasure, I'm going to buy things I actually get to keep. :)

This is such a great topic!

For me, the 48 hours expiration for Netcomics is a dealbreaker (which is why I am currenting invoking all of my shopping savvy to get the printed copies of Let Dai at the best price possible).

The best proof of my loyalty to the printed medium is the fact that I buy the "dead tree" version of Girl Genius. At about $20 bucks per 100-page volume (albeit gorgeous pages in color), I wouldn't buy them if I didn't feel that they were superior to the free web version.
