I wanted to cry when I first saw her cut herself..
I also wanted to puke. I myself have never cut, because it just adds to my pain, but I understand being in enough pain to do it. Some people just don’t, which are the non-believers above. Just some stuff you can’t go to a doctor for. They’ll treat you like you’re crazy and stuff.
Anyways, also love the comic of you reading it, ’tis amazing :D

also sidenote: the people who are “cutters” were doing it before the manga came out, so don’t feel the need to go like “z0mg emo manga is emo cuz cutters read it” there is no “influence” its simply people identifying with the story, not “oh hay i readed the manga and then i cutted cuz the manga told me tooz”

jeez people need common sense.

hm.. i have to disagree with nik, people who cut dont talk about it irl but they do talk about it online, i guess the people you hang out with are in a good enough position and don’t have the feeling to feel that they need to do that but *shrugs* oh well. its all a natural part of life.

Agree with nik. It sounds as if cutting was normal (if not fabricated in the first place), which is abnormal in itself. And to tell the online fans on a blog about one manga when there really is no significant reason or value to telling us.. it doesnt seem very bright. Or honest for that matter.

And cutting isnt the only way to cope with a difficult problem. I havent read this manga yet , but the comments by “fellow cutters” already have me fearing of this manga’s influence on the young minds of the younger audience.

lol people who really cuts themselfs don’t share it on the internet for people to know. so that means you guys are lieing (above the comments) cuz people who really cuts have no guts to tell that they cut themself for stress. well if you guys aren’t lieing then why do you have to share it to the world.no excuse for that… go get help from a doctor. i hate people that tells things with pity in front of people. people who needs help from stress ask a doctor not stragers.

LIFE is a kickass manga.
funny i went to the bookstore just to browse around and then i saw it. i only went through the first three pages of the book, and i said the hell with it and bought the first five books. i was hooked for the rest of the day. i’ve been a cutter for 4 years, i still do it every now and again but its not as serious now. but when i saw that Ayumu was cutting herself it actually made me sick, even though its just a story . . it was still heartbreaking to see her do that. i hope Miki and Ayumu have a good relationship together. unlike the way Manami treated Ayumu. ya, i’m just rambling. but this is a great story.

I completely agree with Erdmann-san. I understand what Ayumu-san goes through, and am a cutter myself. It’s wrong to assume that someone who cuts themselves are either dying for attention or want to die, so please don’t believe the stereotypes. It’s also a good idea to just stop and say “hello”, even if you don’t know the person, you never know who’s day you could make better.

I myself am a fan of Life. Ayumu is like me. She’s lonely and all her friends are messing her up even worse than she already is. Thats how my life is too. I cut as well i might add. I havent had some of the things happen to me like Ayumu has had (eg. Manami’s bf taking nude pics of Ayumu bound up). However I dont think that it is appropriate that you should say its “gross” when Ayumu cuts. Its a part of life. You fall, you bleed. You cut onions, you cry. You cut, you bleed. Its not her fault that she has found no better solution to her problem than to cut. I would rather that no one be judged for what they do in their private lives. If you were in Ayumu’s situation how would you feel? Some people probably wouldnt cut but most people probably would. So please do not judge people for what they do even if they are anime or manga characters. There are people in the world that are EXACTLY like them.
