“…Malcolm X’s life, even after joining the nation of Islam, was one of the great times of African-American cultural development history. Admittedly it is the tail end of the Harlem Renaissance but there are a lot of wonderful images in there. He had a lot of movement in his life going from the south to Boston to New York and to prison. There are so many different visual venues for him. Even when he was at the nation of Islam he had a period of time where he toured the United States and had conflicts with his supporters. It’s a constantly shifting set of visuals for the story.”
