John Ridley interview

Posted by: Rich Watson on March 3, 2007 at 12:17 am

“… if we’re going to do this, we need to do something better than to have the black character… the black character has to struggle with his place in society and what it means to be a hero. For black people, for me, it’s totally beyond the super powers and all of this science fiction and comic book aspects of it. What’s really required to be heroic? People have all of these expectations in the positive and negative about you. There’s so much more to a good comic book than guys in capes lifting cars over their heads.”
