John Jennings’ next GN: Pitch

The Hole artist and Glyph Comics Award winner John Jennings just posted pages from his forthcoming GN Pitch: Shadow and Fact on his Facebook page. It’s a ghost story involving the spirits of slaves and victims of lynchings haunting a modern-day artist. I haven’t really talked about John’s art here yet. It has elements of grafitti, for certain, but it’s married to a very kinetic fine art style as well – the way he applies color, the use of computer-manipulated imagery and effects. If I were to draw a comparison to more familiar names, I’d say he compares very favorably to Ted McKeever, as well as Ashley Wood and Ben Templesmith. Naturally, I’m recommending you check out The Hole if you haven’t already, but the more I see of John’s work the more convinced I am that he’s one of the most distinctive and visually exciting new comics artists you haven’t heard of.
