Is America ready for black superheroes?

“I think that there is a perception of black people that America is comfortable with, and I’m not sure the hero role was it… We can be athletes and rappers, but not Superman. Thor saved the universe, Captain America saved the country, Spider-Man saved the city, but Luke Cage saved 125th Street (in Harlem) between Frederick Douglass and Adam Clayton Powell Boulevards.”
FYI: The post title reflects the tenor of the article at the link, written a generation or two too late. You and I already know the answer to the question is yes.

Sure they are. Only if we break the tradition of what a superhero is supposed to be. Can a unique black superhero exsist. peace.

America is ready of that i have no doubts but is the black community ready to give up the individuals that they have already made heroes (Jay Z, King James, etc…) for fictional heroes with morales and a code of responsibility

wouldnt Blade count as a black superhero though?? I think its refreshing to see a new crop of superheros who are black and not immediately assumed to be from the ghetto. (ie: phil morris’s character in “Emissary”)
