I should give this a mention: since Diamond is essentially taking this coming week off (though they will ship Blackest Night #6 and a variant comic according to the website), there has been a movement underway dedicated to giving small press comics the spotlight, called Indy Comic Book Week. It’s a good idea: participating retailers devoting space to showing off indy comics that no one would’ve heard about normally. I recognize at least one book on the list that is of relevance to this blog, The Horsemen. Here in New York, Midtown and Jim Hanley’s will be in on the proceedings; in Columbus, Packrat Comics out in Hilliard will host a group signing of locals, including my friend Molly Durst. So if your local shop is taking part in this event, do yourself a favor and check out what’s available.
