How to draw Obama

“…Now that we have our first African-American president, I hope people will relax about caricaturing African-Americans. For some, the whole notion of ‘caricature’ has had an evil connotation when it comes to blacks. It raises the specter of ‘Little Black Sambo’ and pickaninnies. Or, even worse – Ted Danson in blackface.
“…But that whole notion is not what I, or the caricaturists and cartoonists I know, are about.”

Hey, Rich: I was in the middle of typing a post up about The Onion article when I realized that you had already linked to it as well! I laughed so hard when I read it (I’m glad no one else was around. I really embarrassed myself.) Like I said in my own post, I like the image of Obama as comics geek much better than the one of Obama as superhero. It rings more true, don’t you think? Or maybe I’m just projecting. And the dig at Spawn was hilarious.
By the way (very off-topic), I started “Me and the Devil Blues” this week and I’m finding it very strange. The story’s pacing seems off – but I am so new to manga, that I’m going to keep trying.
